FT down?

Still down from most places i'm testing.

It's more likely routing. I won't go into the technical details, but it's most likely that due to the DDoS that routing was altered or possibly penalised. It'll take time for that to smooth out.

It's working absolutely fine for me (and many others) at the moment.

I'm thinking Australian users can't get on as things haven't filtered down to here yet, or depends where our pipes head, and where the ones in the UK head.

serfty was on FT about 4 hours ago it appears.

I just posted this in the Technical Issues forum:

Issues accessing FT from Australia after downtime - FlyerTalk Forums
I'm seeing a lot of reports from Australians advising that they still can't access Flyertalk after the downtime.

Certainly posting in "Australian centric" forums (like the Qantas one) is pretty much non-existant.

Any ideas as to what is happening ?

Cue "down under" jokes...

Yeah, sorry, you won't be able to login/post unless you're a proxify member, but it will at least let you browse.

They say a cyber attack. This may or may not be a DDoS. There are other attacks that could be called a cyber attack, some with more malicous intents than a DDoS. The length of outage could have indicated law enforcement etc was involved trying to track back the attack to the source.

It was not just a DOS Attack. The site got hacked and according to SanDiego1k site content was altered to contain links to file sharing sites etc.

For a while, the front page of Flyertalk was listing a Warez site under "More Helpful Links".

There have also been rumours that Flyertalk was restored from a backup and some posts lost. The lack of information from Internet Brands just allows conspiracy theories and chinese whispers to get out of hand.

I wonder when Australians will be allowed back into Flyertalk... The Qantas forum is an extremely lonely place at the moment!

Just back from New York.

I could not access it from my accommodation in Manhattan, nor from the BA Terraces Lounge at JFK.
