when i bought mine i bought them through priority club - but they passed the transaction to points.com - is there another way of buying points?

So, it would now seem, that if the PCR points are 'transferred in' from a third party - then those points will qualify for 'status' in the following year.

It would probably take a few Members to trial their 'theories', but likely to prove, that if you 'acquire' PCR points from any other source than PCR - those such points WILL qualify for Elite Status in the following year ...

Points from E-rewards counted towards to status but a survey on FB did not count towards status.

Had my first IHG stay for the year last week and only the base points counted form the 3 day stay in PNG, so from earning 22K points only 13K count to re-qualifying, so I will need 5 stays this year in stead of 3 at the Crowne Plaza in PNG to re-qualify. But it is still easier to get then HH Diamond.

A points voucher given to me at a hotel credited as non status too.

I think most would agree that it is much easier than HH Diamond BUT it gives you very little by comparison to HH Diamond.

There a difference between guaranteed benefits and those subject to something ...

... Or to put it another way, those you can plan on as distinct from those you can hope for.

Indeed. I have fared well in China, but no guarantees. With Hilton I have fared well too...but guaranteed!

Just transferred more points from E rewards to PC which counted for status.

A bit OT but did a e rewards survey about Crowne Plaza's new "Sleep Advantage" for business travellers.

These will be rolled out across the world later this year and points at ICs will go to the $ per dollar spent before taxes model.

So a guaranteed 1 level room upgrade needs a plat to buy the room below club to be guaranteed access? Or does this still not guarantee access to the club lounge, ie an "upgrade" to a corner room or similar instead of a club room? Otherwise you can buy the upgrade at 30% off. Is this correct?

I find IHG far more difficult to come to grips with than HH.

A one level upgrade is a upgrade to the next price point on the booking engine.

In your example if the room that you book does not have club access you will not receive club access even if the you are upgraded to a room that has club access.

Just to satisfy my curiosity I purchased 1000 points from points.com and unsurprisingly they don't count towards re-qualification. Looks like I may kiss goodbye to IHG now. I can't say I blame them it was way too easy to get platinum status and it led to inconsistent benefits.

Me on the otherhand wasnt that lucky! Read on blog that it still counted, so went and bought enough to requal plat, but fail :(
