There is a well organised group who meet for a meal at the Kingston Hotel as posted by Kookaburra. It’s usually advertised on AFF. I have never managed to get there though, my bad!
A few others of us meet for an occasional coffee during the day. COVID and the fact that I decided to rejoin the workforce has meant we haven’t met up for a while. Though certainly will include you in an invite if we do manage to organise something.
Now that life is resuming post covid iso you need to stop working so we can get back to coffee meetups! You were always the main organiser :)

Being a fairly shy person I don’t go to meetups, but I do have an AFF penpal. Started when lockdowns started last year and we now exchange multiple emails a week, covering children, grandchildren, hobbies and even travel (or the lack of it).

Sounds like CBR is a hotbed for shy introverts as I fall into the same category. I can switch to being an extrovert when placed in a social situation but in everyday life I'm very much a keep to myself person.

The coffee mornings that lfl organised were good and less intimidating- hopefully we will have another one towards the end of the year and you can come along?

I think you are a tad over stating my involvement and organisational skills there, FM. :D
I have Tuesdays off at the moment so people can PM me if that day suits them at all and we can look for somewhere to meet up.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

If i can get there in the next few weeks, then I think something can be arranged.

@cove, @JohnM @ozmark

When this thread first popped up I actually forwarded the link to 2 other AFFers who I speak to every few days.
Awesome! As soon as this "big half price sale" comes up, I will be heading to Adelaide and Alice Springs. Always wanted to visit those two places.

That's the reason that behind an online community needs to be a natural extension (for those comfortable with face-to-face meetings). I still remember the first meeting on Flyertalk I arranged (now in its 20th year). Similar with my desire to arrange meet-ups whenever I am travelling interstate - lunches or (more likely), dinners with AFF'ers. I'd rather go out to dinner with new and old friends with whom I have a shared passion, than sit in a hotel room by myself.

@Myrna, seems that you chose a good group of people with whom to catch up - I know the vast majority of them. It's a pity that I haven't been to London in recent years. otherwise I may have added my name to that august and esteemed list.

Are there any meetups in Perth, WA?

Would be nice to meet others who fly quite frequently.

There hasn't been much in the way of meet-ups of just PER people, but we have had several over many years that have been stimulated by having an eastern visitor - particularly one of the mods who has clients in PER. Of course, nothing has happened for the last year and it's likely to be that way for a while yet.
I'm organising a (day) trip to ADL for next week, so PER will be on the cards before Easter (hopefully). Look out for my "Meet A Moderator" thread.

Ive always wondered how many passengers are on flight at any one time on a mileage run.

I always wonder the same. This one time, I was socialising with my next seat neighbour and then we both blurted out at, almost, the same time that we are indeed on a status run. He was doing it to retain his Platinum and I was on my maiden run to get Platinum.

After a while, turns out the pax on 2C joined us by saying, "oh, I'm on a status run too, to retain Gold" :)

I was like WOW :)

Anyone interested can read more about my maiden run in this link First ever Status Run to QF Platinum

Yes! Hubby has retired, so our time in London is coming to an end. Although we can stay here but our home is really Sydney. And, we need to return home to sort out issues with our tax and financial affairs. We are trying to head back home this year - waiting for some good news from the Australian government re re-opening of borders and removal of mandatory quarantine - so maybe will get to meet you in an AFF meeting in Australia instead.
