My message is that I am trying to gain Frequent Flyer points for my trip by "Emirates" to the U.K. Manchester on the 5th July to 4th August.

Welcome mayoneil

Just for clarity - you are flying Emirates and you want to see how you earn frequent flyer points or how you can get frequent flyer points to get a flight on Emirates?

The forum is Fly-Buys ... perhaps the OP is hoping to redeem some Flybuys points on a trip to Manchester in a years time.

mayoneil, welcome to AFF. :D

I could be wrong but the OP would like to "gain" FF points for a trip to the UK with Emirates in July/August. Could this be possibly related to Skywards FF earning?

I think you are right - the confusing word was gain for rather than gain on

As this does not appear to be related to Fly Buys, I am going to move this thread to the Airline Frequent Flyer Programs forum where it would seem to be better suited. Please continue discussion there.

If you want greater coverage and relevance for the local market join United for free. as it is a member of Star Alliance it probably gives you more flexibility than Skywards.

Only one minor problem with this.

In my experience EK flights never credit automatically to your MP account, even when your MP number is properly recorded in the booking. You invariably have to write to MP with your original BP and ticket details, and then wait, and wait, and wait...... (and if you're lucky, something will eventually turn up in your account).

I'm still waiting for the miles to be credited for my EK flight a couple of months ago. Might be lucky to see it by Christmas.

That was never my experience. I had the points credited in the month following travel on all three occasions.

I agree with Sully, I have never had problems accruing EK points on UA MP. You can also accrue them to Velocity but the award redemption is much higher. You can go to RAR for 20k UA points but the same trip on Virgin Blue is over 50k.

All I can say sully is that you were lucky.

Check out Flyertalk and see what the general consensus is.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

EK to UA MP is a hit or miss for me.

Also - the thing with accruing UA miles from EK flights is they wouldn't be status miles, only award miles.
