Agree with the others. Macy's won't accept an Australian credit card unless you are using their international website. In which case the $$$ are higher and they ship the item to Australia.

Interesting. I remember Macy's pushing me to the international site, and I compared the all inclusive prices with the US site and decided to go with the US site and Shipito as it was cheaper.

There's one thing I can't remember and that's if I was VPN'd to the US at the time.

I am on a VPN too, and was able to get the US goods into my basket, but as soon as I tried to use the credit card, it declined as the Billing address wasn't a USA one, even though the shipping address was. And yes, the Oz site is WAY more expensive than the USA site and some goods still cant be shipped here.

I have used price USA many times and they're great. They keep you informed as to the shipping status and do a great job consolidating multiple purchases if you need it. Also good for purchasing US iTunes cards so that I can use the US iTunes Store.... Much cheaper...

Looks like some good options.

When I need to do it I will use one of the noted services.

I wanted something and could not get it so found it on a Aussie site and payed a lot more for it.

Gerry Harvey would attribute the price difference to the GST but I'm betting it was more than 10% dearer here.

Gerry Harvey does himself nor his business no favours here. Due to his short sighted views and high level of self interest I don't patronise hardly normal currently.

I am no fan of Hardly Normal either. Gerry doesn't get that his rants continue to damage his brand. He has amassed huge profits due to over pricing of goods, and which until recently the Australian consumer had no choice but to cough up. He refuses to accept that we now have a choice and options. He is angry that he can see his fortunes not growing as he expected them to do. And what Australian would actually suggest that other Australians should pay more tax just to shore up his business! But he still doesn't get that paying an additional 10% doesn't explain the difference. And how many small Australian businesses has he closed down because of his mega stores and their inability to compete.

Of course he does get it, but he's not going to admit that.

He has been effectively bulk importing the same stuff that we can get from overseas as well - but he does have to pay the GST - however, his landing costs would still be way lower than us, even with that.

Australian retailers have a higher cost base so we should expect better service and more innovative shopping options, however they have lived off their uninspiring monopolies/oligopolies for too long.....the world has caught up.

Dear oh dear I tried to buy a washing machine over the phone. DJ's wouldn't accept my credit card over the phone!!! It was a $3.5k sale. Bing Lee didn't pass on a manufactures discount.....after chatting online they told me to go to a store.........

Is this the rubbish we should be paying high margins for here?

Or Australian consumers have caught up with the world.

The only thing I tend to buy in stores or Australian online stores is electronics that require 220 volts. Although I did import a coffee pod machine and used a step down converter before pod machines were available here. All up I paid $220 for both.

I hate going into stores and seeing the markup on clothing. Calvin Klein is ridiculously expensive here but very reasonable on amazon. I know my us size in shoes and clothes and have a perfect fit.
