I don't think there's any "cheap" SPG property in Australia. 4P Sydney runs about 150 AUD/night.

I wonder if this move by SPG is in response to Hilton's devaluation and an attempt by Starwood to woo HHonors members.

The cheapest SPG property in OZ that I have seen is the 4 Points Geelong from ~$135 and then the 4 Points Sydney from ~$150.

Don't expect ANYTHING* as an SPG Gold at the Sydney 4 points - and you will not be disappointed.

I have had a look at some of their room rates for hotels in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Bangkok. The cost is way too high for my liking.

Hotel loyalty programs are nice to a certain extent. After all it is only a room and why spend AUD200+ on a room when a <AUD90 room serves the same purpose?
