Free Starwood Gold plus 1K pts per night

Hi all,

Had some hiccups with my account and it took SPG a few days to sort it out. I've now sent out all referrals (apologies for the delay).

If anyone else would like complimentary gold and the 1k bonus points per night, feel free to PM me your e-mail address. There doesn't seem to be a limit to how many referrals I can send out.

Have Gold to the end of yr after being comped last yr but no chance of retaining after work switched to Crown in MEL

As far as I know and from what I have been told, if you have an email address that has been used or linked to a previous or existing account then you aren't eligible and won't receive the referral email ... however you could always create a new email, which is consequently a new account, and then contact SPG Customer Care to link those accounts together. (It has been reported on the FT thread that this process has worked fine.)

Otherwise you could always contact SPG first and ask for a comp extension of your expiring Gold, given that the current promotion is giving Gold away for free (to Feb 2011) anyway.

I can report that everyone here that I referred got the GOLD status within 24-48h.

SPG works for some people while it is not so good for others.

I needed to spend 1 night in Taipei, 1 night in Hong Kong and 1 night in Bangkok for 2 people (I think SPG properties are quoting well over AUD200 for 1 person for 1 night when I can stay at Novotel Lotus on Sukhumvit 33 for AUD75 per person per night). Let's say just say that the rates for SPG properties are way more than I would pay for a hotel room even with the lure of 1,000 bonus points. A shame really as I was looking for an alternative to Hilton and PC Club but it appears that most SPG hotel rates are too expensive (for me anyway)....

Actually, existing members are advised not to do that as checks will be conducted for duplicate accounts and actions will be carried out to these accounts.

The referral is only available to new members only.
