Free ALL Gold Status for QF Silver or above - also Points Club Plus

I tried to ring today on number posted above. But as Im not a plus member I got transferred. Was hoping to Aus but sounded like overseas call centre. I was just told I did not earn enough points etc to remain gold,. Tried to explain about promotion but just told same. I only have confirmation email saying I had registered. Then sent a FB message hoping to contact someone in Aus at least, but the eventual reply was they would forward it on to Accor pacific cusztomer care team , so sounds like that wont be in Aus either.

I also thought it should have been to at least next year so I never got any real benefit at all.

Anyone have any idea if Gold will attain a discount on any of the hotel restaurants? Visiting Movenpick in Pattaya tomorrow and a trip advisor review said accor plus discount was applied.

That hotel doesn’t seem to be on the list of dining exceptions: https://www.accorplus.com/benefits-...9a1ef4&sskey=e5099123ffa24c7d91fc7c93bbfdd3a6

So if you are Accor Plus you’ll get the discounts.

Accor Gold isn’t necessarily Accor Plus, you need be be the latter.

Just rounding out a previous issue I had with my Accor Plus expiring.

I took advantage of the QF silver or above match to Accor Gold. This attached to my Accor Plus.

When my Accor Plus expired - after just two months - my regular membership kicked back in and I was downgraded to Silver.

Despite a lengthy email chain Accor refused to acknowledge the Qantas promotion… they’d never heard of it. So I’m stuck with silver.

Disappointing.

That's interesting. I find Accor customer service the biggest time waster, trying to sort things out with them, every time there's an issue. No one seems to know what's going on there. I got the accor QF gold upgrade, then they sent me a silver card. There was quite a bit of toing and froing to actually get the correct gold card sent out to me.

I am going through the same with them now. It's just another nail in the coffin of experiences I have had with Accor/Accor Plus.

If it makes you feel any better being Accor Gold isn't that big of a deal compared to Silver in terms of perks and how one is treated. I say this as someone who moved their way from Silver all the way up to Platinum (where I currently am). Maybe you get a better welcome gift, but otherwise not much to write home about. Where you actually begin to notice, "hey I'm being treated better," is the Platinum level since that avails you of brekkie, lounge access, a markedly better welcome gift (i.e. a bottle of wine with approximately half of my wine stash coming from Accor properties) and better luck in scoring a meaningful late check out (i.e. 12 PM or 12:30 PM). At presently I hold loyalty status with several hotels: Hilton Gold, Marriott Gold, Accor+Diamond, IHG Gold, etc, and will choose the hotel to stay at based on the specific benefits I'm looking to use. For instance, just last week I stayed at the Sheraton Grand Sydney since as a Marriott Gold that would allow me to get a 2 PM late check out (also the rooms are quite nice and the points redemption quite reasonable at 42,000 points/night on a $700 rack rate).

One thing to try is to see if unlinking and relinking your Accor through the portal causes Accor to magically realize, "oh they should be a Gold member now"

Possibly not a good idea. It might trigger the 12mth waiting period between linking FF accounts.

Unless someone else here has done that? Unlinked and immediately relinked Accor / QFF?

I agree with Accor customer service being hard to deal with and dont understand etc. As I posted before, I managed to get gold for the first time from the previous year, mainly because of double status promotion re covid. So I also regisistered for the Qantas upgrade promotion halfway through the year. Obviously nothing changed then but was hoping it would be extended this year.
Disappointed I was downgraded at beginning of year and tried to ring Accor, I assume an o/s call centre and trying to explain was almost impossible- all they said was I had to earn enough points/nights etc.
Also tried to contact via facebook, hoping they were in Aus and at least knew about promotion, but all they said was the would pass on to Accor asia/pacific customer care or whatever.
But they never ever replied to me...

I posted this in another thread, but even though my Accor membership is Gold (through this promo), most of the hotels I've stayed in recently still have my status on file as Silver.

I contacted Accor Customer Care (spoiler alert: they don't) and got a rather unhelpful reply saying that everything is fine. So I tried calling, the guy didn't know what to do, and a week later I got another email saying I should just show my membership card at check-in. I find it embarrassing to have to argue every time I check in about my status, which is why I contacted them in the first place so they could fix whatever is going on at their end...

After reading these responses, I don’t think I’ll bother calling up when my membership is up for renewal in July. The promotion advised Gold until end of December 2023, but I will now accept it will finish in July.

I stayed at Novotel Auckland Airport last week. They had acknowledged Gold status as I was upgraded to a club room. I didn’t have to show my digital gold card on arrival. The online booking must have noted my current level.

As an Accor Plus Platinum, I often find hotels don’t have my room flagged for included breakfast… so I find having a physical platinum card useful as it quickly sorts the issue.

Yes it’s a tad annoying… but in the grand scheme of things it’s really just a inconvenience thanks to their coughpy IT systems.

I would push to get your Gold reinstated… it will be for Accor Plus to fix as they reissued you a new member number and clearly the IT systems didn’t carry over the gold status.

Regular Accor support probably won’t be useful at all and I suspect you will need to get Accor Plus support (out of Sydney I think) to sort it out for you.

I had my first stay recently, after getting gold courtesy of this. I wasn't able to advise my membership number in advance, so did so at check in. No benefits while at the hotel other than a slightly later checkout (which I didn't end up using). However, a handful of Qantas points came through pretty quickly which is better than nothing!

Which hotel? Gold is down a rung but in my experience there’s usually some verbal recognition as well as a welcome amenity and possibly some form of upgrade (even if only a better room in the same category).

I assume it was because I didn't advise number until check in. Didn't have time to chase anything up, but had a nice stay either way.

I was just trying to work this out. The T&Cs don't mention anything about this, so I assume you'd receive it for the same amount of time as someone earning ALL Gold status the normal way - i.e. until the end of next year. I could be wrong though.
So I got the Gold upgrade as a WP, and I am also an Accor Plus member. My Accor plus membership expires on 30 June and I just renewed it. The sales consultant made a big point of telling me that I would be downgraded to silver again on 1 July. So it looks like I only got a bit over 6 months of the upgrade - which was nice for sure. I will confirm what happens post 30 June, but it looks like my time of elevated status is over now.

I got this today from Accor. Looks like everyone on accor plus will need to submit an enquiry after they renew.

"You will need to contact us if the account changes to Silver and we will manually upgrade this back to Gold, our system will not be able to do this automatically"

Similar to my post #342 above. But who to call?

Does anyone have any details of who to contact about this? Or do i just shrug and let the Gold go through to the keeper like @Port Power?

I just renewed my A+ (was expiring 30th June, I missed the early bird 30% discount in May as for some reason the offer went to SPAM); and my new card arrived yesterday expiring 30 June 2024 is also Gold.

But in addition to the Qantas promo, I did actually qualify for Gold outright last year based on spend (not nights).

Im not sure I will get back to gold on spend or nights this year, so for me the extra 6 months has worked via plus.
