Anyway both Sydney and Melbourne have champagne in the F lounges but it appears the numbers of folks in those lounges is going to crash once the new access rules kick in early next year.
FWIW, WP access rules changed to remove "anytime access" to Qantas F lounges from April 1st 2007.

But a lot of annoyed WPs will be not qualifying in future due to the rule changes ;)

If that means less crowding of F lounges and more champagne for me, then I say bring it on! ;)

The sensational lass on Friday in the MEL F lounge certainly knew how to kept us well watered (and fed!). I should have got her name (I know she's not a QF employee, but she was simply brilliant).

I hate to think how many bottles of the rosé 2 of us went through, I stopped counting after the 5th glass (and that was early in the piece!)

Perhaps I missed the announcement but I do not believe the current changes to anytime lounge access will affect access to the F Lounge for Platinums?

As a Platinum you need to be travelling Oneworld or JQ on the day and you and a guest (travelling with you) may use the F lounge. Isn't this still the same?

Serfty I am so pleased about your timeline on "anytime access" as I used to be Platinum but did not ever think of using that feature.
I like a place to be a bit busy rather than go in and have everyone stare at the one new arrival.
Four champagnes are a very nice introduction.
I have enjoyed the massage and the meal.

Should I take up the four champagnes challenge?

Very tempting but I have gone ~6 weeks without alcohol. Aaaarrrggh....

The fact you have to ask that question JohnK concerns me.

I suspect your recent bout of misfortune has caused your brain to be rewired to avoid a so wrong, yet so right lounge drinking challenge. Get thee to the champagne bar stat! :D

Currently working my way through the reds in the Melbourne J lounge. :)

I'm starting to think that I'm the only person on this board who doesn't get totally lashed before they board the aircraft!

I have actually started enjoying my period of non drinking. What scares me is if I start drinking again it may get out of control again. I do not like the person I turned into before getting sick. :(

Leave some for me just in case I take up the challenge tomorrow afternoon.

Sorry, I wasn't aware - and in these circumstances my comment was inappropriate. Apologies for any offence if caused.

Six weeks, a start but a long way to go to catch me with > 21 years of abstinence.

We're a small bunch.

Can I get a diet Sprite there yet?

Can check champagnes in SQ lounge on 1st December as I am going to LAX out of PER using those Kris points that are easy to use. Sure I am on the 747 and not the A380 but I am happy on both QF and SQ brands and both models of planes.

John good luck with getting well. I was hooked on Diet Coke and an operation with morphine unhooked me 16 years ago. I now think of that period of my life as having a chemical addiction.

Wow, what great advice.....

JohnK, why don't you try staying off the grog? You've lost a stack of weight which is fantastic and you've mentioned several times it has a bad effect on you. Alcohol is a huge contributor to depression and weight gain.... Would love to see you stay off it for a while and try again with some moderate exercise and diet :p

Good luck whatever path you choose. If I was you I wouldn't be rushing back to the champagne.
