Flying to LAX on AA with AAgold / Qantas Club Bronze

I am planning a trip with the wife to LAX from SYD

Best rates for the time I am flying is with AA (discount economy)

My situation. I have lifetime QC (bronze) and lifetime AA Gold.

I hope there is someone here with info that can help me with the following

1. If I book with AA and use QFF (QC) can I access lounges - if so then
2. If I book with AA and use AA gold can I still access lounges using my QC card (alternatively can I use it in SYD but not LAX)
3. Can I use my QC card for the outgoing (Get lounge access) and AA gold on return trip (given LAX lounges aren't that great) as I need about 5K on AA for some potential FF flights

2. You can use you QP membership before any QF or AA flight and metal where a lounge is available.
3. yes, see 2.

Put your Ruby number into the booking (You should at least be able to select seating for 'free' doing that).

Show your QP card for admission; make sure the dragons/aangels/agents don;t swap numbers on you.

Also, be aware that not all Economy fares on QF earn on AAdvantage. (e.g. N and Q are ineligible)

Couple of clarifications.

1. I read that since the agents may swap numbers, I could also do the same before the flight departs?
2. The flight is a QF flight but using AA to book as an AA flight So are the N and Q still ineligble for AAdv when its booked as AA not QF?
3. Are QFF points available on these N and Q if I use that card instead, on these so called AA flights? - I might have misread your answer.

Metal is the operator of the flight.

Since these are likely to be Qantas Metal flight, the only issue is the flight number(s).

AA flight number will credit 100% to AAdvantage
QF flight number may not credit to AAdvantage or only credit 50%
AA flight number may not credit to Qantas Frequent Flyer or only credit 50%
QF flight number will credit 100% to Qantas Frequent Flyer.

Ozpete I use Aadvantage as my primary program.Being elite with AA does not give me access to lounges domestically in the US.But when flying AA(and without mrsdrron) i am QC life so always use that to access the Admiral's club lounges even though I am on a flight with an AA flight number and using my AA number in the booking.And of course the AA miles are to me worth more than QFF points when it comes to redemptions.So you dont have to be changing the FF number in your bookings-keep it AA all the way and just flash your QP card to get into the lounges.
