For some reason, I remember reading somewhere that points and SCs are not given when flying Jetstar on a QF flight number. Is there any truth to this or am I just imagining it? Specifically on SIN-KUL.

Kind of true.

If earning to Qantas Frequent Flyer then you'll earn points at the standard rate as if the flight was operated by Qantas.

If earning to a oneworld partner then you won't earn any points (only exception is BA where other requirements apply).

A few other things to point out:
  • Baggage is the standard Qantas allowance (30kg/40kg/50kg - Economy/Business/First) however oneworld or Qantas additional baggage doesn't apply.
  • No oneworld benefits apply.
  • No Qantas Frequent Flyer benefits apply except for Lounge access (but note that the SIN lounge doesn't open until the afternoon).
  • You should have a seperate JQ booking reference (can be obtained from the QF site) - seat selection is done through Jetstar (@ jetstar.com) and you may also be able to add a free ~$10 voucher for food onboard via the add ons my booking page (have a look at the Jetstar website for this).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
