Just checked and I'm now FB Gold too.

I guess we'll have to wait and see how long the match is for when we get the cards. I wonder if it's two years like the last match (provided you have some activity)

My main question (and i'm not sure if anyone here can answer it) is that as newly minted skyteam Elite+ can i get lounge access ex-Australia on any of the Skyteam airlines that fly here? Might make a big difference to my flying patterns?

If you don't mind me asking did you get matched to platinum for flying blue? If so What were you matched from?

Also matched to gold from DJ gold.

I would say December 31 2013.
1.2.8 On 31 December of each year, the level in the Programme to which a Member is to be entitled the next year will be determined by the number of Level Miles accumulated or the number of Qualifying Flights made from 1 January until 31 December of that same year. The address which counts towards the Member´s level is the mailing address provided in his account. All accumulated Level Miles and Qualifying Flights will be subtracted from the Member´s FB account, unless otherwise indicated in FB Communication. If a Member has earned no Level Miles during a year, the Member will be downgraded to the base level, Ivory. If a Member has earned Level Miles during the year, but not enough to maintain his current membership level as per the rules defined in these General Terms and Conditions, the Member will be downgraded to one level lower. Flying Blue conditions

I've since found my card online and discovered it expires 3/2014. Calculation of SCs for next year is by the end of this calendar year.

I guess this status match was a really good marketing initiative...I just booked a flight with AF:eek:

I think they just got about 12 flights out of me. Taking the family to Europe mid year and as VA have no European partner they'll probably get 4 flights times 3 of us. Shame they don't do family pooling or I'd retain at this rate.

Matched from Velocity Gold to Flying Blue card, used print out of welcome email and temporary card to access Alitalia lounges in JFK and Rome with no issues, although they did note it had not updated on their systems yet.

Match approved. Matched using LH Senator. Not sure if we get a card at all?

I'm also gold now, was assuming it wasnt going to happen. Pity it didn't happen a month ago when I was in the US using DL!

The question is now what other alliances or airlines can we use this to match to?? :)

The 75% elite bonus across skyteam is quite helpful, it makes the many 50% earning fares on flying blue more bearable. Keep in mind that Flying Blue is almost a 'local' frequent flyer program as it also covers Aircalin in New Caledonia. I was amused when my ivory card membership pack last year made much emphasis of this.

I actually just found a great use for this program. I need to take the family to Europe on very limited dates in the year. Was able to snag VA redemption flights to AUH but no further. I just discovered that you can book AUH-CDGorAMS-xx_ (where xx_ is pretty much anywhere in Europe they fly to direct from their hubs) and return YYY-CDGorAMS-AUH (where YYY is anywhere in Europe) in Y for around $6-700. So it looks like i've managed to save a fortune on internal European flights and as we now get lounge access through FB it should be pretty tolerable. So that's at least 12 segments (4x3 people) they've got through us.

Also SIN-DPS return can be had on KL for less than 500 in J and about 250 in Y.
