Hi,

I'm about to book a trip to the US and just noticed that booking AA flight number is about $350 cheaper than doing the same route on QF number.
The flights would all be operated by Qantas on Qantas planes.

As QF Gold, will I still be allowed to take my extra baggage allowance? Can I still book "preferred seats"?

First time I'm doing this, so apologies if this is a kind of noob question. ;)

Cheers
David

You have your oneworld sapphire baggage allowance - you may need to get access to the Qantas PNR to ensure your booking has your Qantas status - once done, you should be able to select seats on www.qantas.com/yourbooking ...

I've never seen AA quote QF flights lower than the carrier apart from trivial differences. I'll ask my own noob question: are you sure you're seeing $Aus for both, not $US?

For the other part of your question, QF Gold / OneWorld Sapphire does get you extra luggage allowances on AA.

I flew AA in June with a QF flight number. I wanted a quick el cheapo fare and AA was cheaper. Being SG, I was able to book Main Cabin Extra without any further cost. Apart from the gum chewing flight attendant with waist length hair not pinned back (off putting), the flight was great and a HUGE IFE selection.

We're talking about the reverse here: QF aircraft with an AA flight number trans-Pacific.
