Just got this email. Their IT system doesn't really give you much confidence. Wonder why they didn't just let it go and not admit to making a mistake? For me, I didn't even know they awarded more than they were supposed to given that I've just been activating those 5x bonus points.

"Over the last 2 months Flybuys has enabled you to boost your points balance at Coles across categories such as Produce, Chilled Dairy, and Biscuits, through offers made available each week.

Unfortunately, some points have been incorrectly awarded contrary to the terms and conditions of the offer. After discovering this technical problem, we are removing those incorrectly awarded points from your balance and ensuring your balance is in line with the terms and conditions. You can view this amount in your transaction activity on the Flybuys website or app.

We are sorry to have caused you any inconvenience.

I don't get this kind of email from Woolies saying that they're sorry that I've been awarded too few points.

How surprising...

I got the email, but never activated the offer or got any bonus points so seems odd.

I got the email and am down about 50 points, a few random dedution on bonus point offers. Seems a stupid thing for Coles to do. It's like the opposite of good will points.

I have received this too.. does anyone know if they are actually allowed to deduct points as per their "terms and conditions" ? :)

I dont know but looking at my activity in the app, i am not a big spender (maybe $45-60 a week) and find it harder and harder to actually shop given they rarely have what I want in stock, they have deducted the total sum of 16 points from my account for a promo i didnt sign up for. Hardly seems worth the effort since it takes 2000 points to even get a small discount off your shop.

Got it as well and lost 68 points.

I was expecting the email to have we found the error but will honour the points but nope, its Coles so we want our stuff back NOW.

I got the email and was confused what it could be. Looking back over my history I noticed a month back there was a 32 point bonus for not entirely sure what it is - I just basically activate all offers and generally forget about the offers and if I happen to buy the product then great. Sounds like this may have been the case, but those 32 points are now gone. I think I need therapy over this.

I also got the email and checked and saw 28 points have been deducted.
So I replied to the email asking when the 800 missing points for a promotion I activated will be credited.
No response from them yet...

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

They'll tell you to send an email to their member help address, then you'll be stuck in a hole forever chasing up the points.

Just received this email titled 'A gesture of goodwill':

On Friday, Flybuys emailed a number of members to let them know they had been incorrectly awarded bonus Flybuys points on some of their purchases at Coles due to an administrative error.

As a gesture of goodwill, Coles and Flybuys have decided to honour the points for customers who received them in error, and we are working to restore them to member balances as soon as possible.

We apologise to members for the inconvenience and have reviewed our procedures to prevent similar occurrences in future. Once again please accept our sincerest apologies.

Same here. Obviously someone pointed out that for a tiny outlay, for most accounts anyway, they could gain a bit of good will.

You do wonder if the team responsible got a dressing down from the boss

I'll only be satisfied when Flybuy's cover my cancellation fee for my therapy session due to the stress caused by this.

When they emailed me a week or two back I challenged them to show me what points they had awarded me in error as I did not believe I had received any bonus points. I guess a number of other customers did the same.

TIP: Want to make real savings? Check your purchase receipt for incorrectly priced and "double scanned" items. Happens more, much more, than you think. Don't raise it at the cash register or they will simply reverse it, but go to the Customer Service Desk where the item will be refunded in full.
