Turn on Auto Transfer to transfer all your Flybuys points to Velocity Points (at 500 Velocity Points for every increment of 1,000 Flybuys points), plus every time you collect 1,000 Flybuys points, they'll automatically be transferred into 500 Velocity Points until Sun 31 Jan 2021*. That's more Velocity Points faster and easier!
To celebrate this exciting new feature, when you turn on Auto Transfer at any time between Mon 7 Dec 2020 and Sun 31 Jan 2021 and keep it on until Sun 31 Jan 2021 you’ll start earning:

Triple Velocity Status Credits
for every eligible $100 spent (up to 30 Status Credits per month) at Coles, (online and in-store), Liquorland and First Choice Liquor Market when you present your Flybuys card#.

Triple Flybuys points
on fresh fruit and veg at Coles (online and in-store), when you present your Flybuys card~.

Key terms and conditions seem to be
  • Must keep auto transfer on until 31 Jan to access bonuses
  • All current FB points are transferred when you sign up
  • Reverts to 2000=870 thereafter
Considering whether the 60scs via my account + pooling, for $2000 of spend during December, is worth it - what is a velocity point worth these days?

Flybuys bonus transfer1000 FB - 500 VFF points, this has been the most interesting one in a long time.
Only been a VFF PS, never been a VFF P1/WP so did not get status extension email/s.

Interesting. I would consider this if I could be certain Flybuys isn't going to launch any other new airline transfer partnerships in the near future. I have no interest in any of the current Flybuys redemptions other than Velocity redemptions, but have been reluctant to transfer my entire Flybuys balance to Velocity at the moment in case something happens to Velocity, or something better comes up (e.g. a partnership with SQ).

Since the EY relationship died I've been generally transferring to FB$. I think I'll do that to empty my balances, but then turn on auto convert for this period to get the triple SCs.

I am still in 2 minds about this. I don't have any Velocity points in my account (sorry I lied, I have 2 points) ..... But I still have a stash of SQ, QF, AA and BA points to use.

I may end up keeping FB points as is, and use it on FB travel where it is more worthwhile if airlines have major sales.

Flybuys is good but I would NOT transfer any points to velocity atm because we still dont know how that program will run in the longer term

The first email yesterday was from FB, but today, it was from VFF themself.
To the same effect, 30 VFF SC for allowing them a years worth of FB - VFF auto transfer.
Have to spend $100 still at Coles, but for 30 VFF SC a month, thats notionally 360 V FF SC a year.
Granted that we don't know much *(of their (VFF's) longer term end game)* at this stage.

SC offer ends 31st January 2021

Notionally, 30 SC a month from FB, x 12 if you or I allow them to direct transfer, 12 x 30 = 360, and if we are allowed to fly where and when we want, and if VA3 does not change anything too much, that is part way towards VFF SG, quite a far way.
At this point in time, I am not sure, should I or shouldn't I?
For a large family, plus a lazy pooch, $100 a month is not a major spend.
Will wait and see if VA3 gives out any more info, about VFF in the next few weeks.
Will decide maybe early Jan, personally speaking, its quite a "sweet offer", 500 - 360 = 120 more, I think I still hold VFF PS as of now.

You need to spend $1,000 a month for 30 SC and I still think it ends 31st Jan

Hmm...
Have to admit I havent taken an indepth read of it!
Edit:
Oh ah, right, I was wrong.
I see, its SC earn only once, to Jan 2021, not Jan 2022, so not a years worth.
Double edit:
Just read the t & c, I was wrong.
You were right OLS.
Have to do transfer between 07 Dec and end of Jan, not decide by end of Jan.
Might as well do it, FB points are easier to earn than earning VFF points with little flying.
And yes, its 1 VFF SC per $100 spent, thought it was 10 VFF per $100.

I'm hedging my bets on this one. Set up auto-transfer for Mrs AS account (which pools to mine) as she doesn't have so many FB points and does most of the shopping (somehow she doesnt get 4 week offers, so doesn't care about spend limits).

I have a heap of FB points but don't want to transfer them to VFF just yet (for same reasons as @tomcut2000). If its all good and then at least I have a bit of headstart for any domestic flying next year.

I have 100k flybuys - will be 120k by Christmas. I am not signing up for the automatic transfer. Here's my thinking.

  • The selling point is transfer at a rate of 2000FB = 1000VA. But this is temporary and will revert to 870 VA in February. But there have been frequent promos to get 1000VA in the past and I bet there will be in the future.
  • There is no guarantee about what VA points will buy in the future. I liked them for transferability to SQ. I doubt that will return, and I have doubts that VA points will ever be useable on an international network of any scale in the future.
  • FB could always come up with new partnerships (though I think @Mattg is dreaming if he thinks there could ever be a partnership with SQ).
  • FB points currently don't expire.
  • I have no immediate travel plans so there is no advantage to acting soon.

I will continue to earn VA with their Velocity Wine Store because I might as well. But I'm not transferring points into VA any time soon unless they announce network tie-ups.

To clarify, while I think it is possible Flybuys could launch a new partnership with another airline/hotel, I don’t necessarily think it would be SQ. (Even though it would be nice!)

Don't worry, I never thought you were serious about SQ. I think it would be difficult for FB to partner with any overseas airline as I guess most FB collectors would be attracted by the prospect of redeeming on economy domestic tickets.

I'm torn. I like the idea of the 3x status credits, but I don't want to transfer all my FB points until I know I can redeem Velocity points for products I actually want to use. Plus there's no way I'm going to get up to 800 SC in the next year to retain WP as it is, and 3 x status credits is a relative drop in the ocean.
