Perhaps the QF reservations agent training should involve a mandatory AFF membership and compulsory 10 hours per week browsing the forums :D

or failing that, they should remember their training on how to correctly add non QF numbers into an account

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Well after two attempts AA have refused to post the points for the misposted fligths - so I have emailed QF asking them to be reinstated (I can always fax the letters from AA to them as confirmation).

The AY points still have not posted - I am wondering if the helpful staff actually didnt lodge the missing credit request. I am currently missing from AA:

8 Jul - FRA-HEL - AY - 957
8 Jul - HEL-LHR - AY - 1149
8 Sep - SYD-NRT - QF - 4871
2 Oct - HKG-SYD - QF - 4599
6 Oct - SYD-BNE - QF - 500
6 Oct - BNE-DRW - QF - 1173
10 Oct - DRW-SYD - QF 1962

Total AAdvantag emiles 34,224

Add to that the incorrect postings:

20 Jul - LHR-DXB - BA - 3419
25 Jul - LGW-BGI - BA - 4204

A sub-total of 17,151 possible Aadvantage miles

A grand total of 51K missing aadvantage points - not exactly chump change but perhaps a bit of a chump for mixing up FF numbers in bookings :(

The points had already been credited to the QF program so were not eligible for crediting to AA or BA (?). That was the wording of both letters. The econd letter was after I faxed copies of the BPs showing my AA number, the email from QF and a print of my statement from QF showing the points coming in and reversing.

At this point I will just leave it and let the points credit to QF - that's almost an upgrade to F ;)

As an EXP, I would be calling teh EXP desk and getting them to sort it out for you since you have provided proof that the points were incorrectly posted to QF and QF has reversed the mistake.

In yet another case of QF staff helping me out they have now put my QFF number in my booking for the end of my DONE4 :(

The trip is SYD-ADL-PER-SYD in J so I figure that will net me 220SCs if I just let this slide through to QF. I am wondering as well if I now ask QF to recredit the flights as AA have refused (I have yet to phone the EXP desk) I assume that they will credit back into my 2006/2007 Sep qualifying year - no way I can fudge them into this qualifying year? That would put me close to 400SCs and an easy renewal of SG through to 2009 ;)

Most reports have been that QF is quite good at crediting past flights into the correct membership year. In theory if QF do give you credit for the problematic flights then they should post as an adjustment to your previous membership year and an increase to your Lifetime SCs.

But as always YMMV and you really have nothing to lose other than a few AA points.

A call to the EXP desk will likely deal with the issue nicely and get them credited. Sometimes they make mistakes in determining eligability for miles when requesting but it is normally easy to get it sorted

If you were to credit to QF, they will be added such that they will show as having been earned in the previous qualifying year unless someone really screws up crediting

Tip: do not give QF the opportunity to add your QFF number in bookings when not wanted

I do the utmost to preserve the AA number but the QF staff are just too helpful  - in dealing with this specific changes to flights etc. I start every conversation with "I am travelling on my AA number currently.

I think the mistake I am making perhaps is using my QF number when I call QF for changes etc. rather than dialling the 131131 number and not quoting a QF number at all.

Well given that I am using sometimes a blend of QF and AA points (upgrades and awards etc.) I decided to flick the points to QF. I scanned/emailed the documentation to QF last Friday and the points posted to QF today - the status credits did sadly post into the correct year ;)

Now to follow up those damn AY points with AA...
