Hi All,

My family and I are flying from Mildura to the Sunshine Coast on the 17th of September. We were supposed to be flying through Melbourne and Sydney to get there, however around 3 weeks ago we received an email from Qantas stating that the leg from Melbourne to Sydney (QF432) had been cancelled. Due to this Qantas have shunted us onto a direct service from Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast, with a 5 hour layover in Melbourne.

Upon further investigation, I have discovered that the flight is still able to be booked online through the Qantas website. The exact same service, with the exact same departure and arrival times, on the exact same date. Why would Qantas claim that the flight has been cancelled, even though it hasn't? Is there anything that we can do about this? If anyone has any insight it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Looks like flying via MEL instead of both MEL and SYD will take around the same time with less risk of misconnecting:

Yeah I was thinking about doing that, the 5 hour layover may be handy though if Qantas doesn't get the issues that are going on ironed out. The day that I am travelling is the first day of the school holidays after all

We haven't got lounge access or anything like that, which is why we originally booked with layovers of around 1-2 hours so we wouldn't have to spend a long time sitting around in busy areas of the airport, since then Qantas have changed our flights 3 times though, and I wouldn't be surprised if they changed them again

Bonza will be flying Mildura to Maroochydore direct, so if Qantas changes again...

If you finish up with a 5hr or longish layover, worth putting out a feeler here for any free lounge passes. you never know your luck!
