I finally got "the" birthday present I've been dropping multiple hints for. A 60 minute "City Flyer" experience in the Flight Experience Boeing 737-800 fixed base simulator.

Has anyone else had a go at this?

Any suggestions as to where I should "fly" from and to?

All thoughts and comments appreciated.

I did is a long time ago, back when flight experience first launched in Darling Harbour.

The best and most fun thing I could think of is taking off from Sydney, flying around a bit and then landing back at Sydney.

If you want some fun, you could try landing at the old Hong Kong Airport.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yeah, i've done this. It is great. Just talk to them and let them know what you want to experience.

I did old Hong Kong and Queenstown NZ - Both interesting approaches, especially through the mountains around Queenstown.

That seems the norm. Queenstown and Kai Tak (old HK). They are fairly challenging, and cruising around the HK waters doing T&G is fairly scenic.

You don't necessarily have to start off from scratch (as in engine start ups etc) unless you want to, you can choose to start off in the cruise, or just before the take off roll.

It's all good fun. I did a CBR-SYD, then multiple T&G at Kai Tak

Well, I've just "landed" from my Flight Experience. Two circuits of Adelaide with a T & G and landing and then the same for Kai Tak with the added bonus of landing at night in a thunderstorm. A bit of fun.
Over the last couple of days I've been working out how many "hours" I've had in 737"s and I figure I've probably logged up in excess of 3000 hours as a passenger. And after today's experience I think I'm better at sitting in 1C than the left hand seat!
Fabulous experience, thoroughly recomend it and if ever you get a chance to do it - grab it!

The ZQN approach on the sim made me want to visit & do the approach for real. Obviously I was down the back for the real thing but it was an awesome experience (both in the sim & in real life).

Nothing would beat being up front. Flying straight at a mountain is a little odd. :)
