PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

I didn’t realise you could do a Y+ upgrade on the domestic leg but I’ve never tried. When they first introduced the 787 domestic leg I seem to recall it was just seating available to WP and above to select

Hello
May I request the loading for QF9 MEL-LHR 26/7
Currently 2pax in Y+ and have requested a J upgrade.
Just want to know if we have any chance

Cheers

No real difference, they are just the various fare buckets that QF has available within International Flexible Economy. Price order from high to low is actually Y>B>H>K, as you see in the ExpertFlyer cutouts in this thread, and generally 'Y' is the last [economy] fare type available, particularly as the departure date / time draws nearer

In terms of upgrade lottery priority I assume Y,B,H,K are all treated equally? (i.e. they're all considered flexible economy so what matters more is FF status priority and when the upgrade request was placed)

Similarly if looking at the loadout then available business class seats for an upgrade would be adding J,C,D together? Rather than just the J bucket seats alone

Another 2 months for me to wait and sporadically use the free seat map tool to keep an eye on the chances that an upgrade is still a possibility. Really glad I found this forum tbh, has been really helpful to understand the ins and outs that I previously had no idea about.

If it comes down to it, the actual fare class might also weigh into it, as will status, timing and other factors, but without an agent booking a specific fare bucket for some reason, then you don’t decide the fare class within the category (e.g. Flexible Economy), anyway.

On business availability, it’s not a coughulative total that you see across the buckets J/C/D/I, but rather the number they willing to sell in each fare bucket. J9C9D9I9 could be 9 seats total in Business left for sale; and QF might also decide not to make any remaining seats that go unsold available for upgrade awards; it’s up to them. So, it really is like a lottery sometimes! But like the lottery, you’ve got to play the game to stand a chance!

Cheers,
Matt.
