PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Hi Folks, could someone please post flight loadings on the following

March 1st MEL - LAX QF93
March 6th LAX - MEL QF94

Doing some manual ticket searches on the Qantas website yields F2 J5 W0 and F3 J9 W0 respectively. I was quite surprised to see 0 Y+ availability. Thought COVID-19 might be having more of an impact.

I guess there is still some hope for the more important overnight return.
If you are seeking an upgrade I can be more helpful if you provide more information (generally from class and fare basis to class and QFF status (although I know that in this instance you are WP)).

Yes, I'm WP and attempting an upgrade from Y, specifically booking class M for QF93 and V for QF94

Missed out the class you are trying to upgrade to so I asked the upgrade fairy about both.
For QF93 if you're looking for J you have almost no chance. F would be a lottery, about 50/50 atm.
So far QF94 is better, about a 33% chance for J and 75% for F and of course status will help you with either.

I'm trying to upgrade to J or Y+ from Y having ticked all the boxes include at the gate upgrades.

I assume you mean 50/50 for Y->Y+ rather than F as Qantas does not allow upgrades from Y to F.

I forgot that rule.
And no there is no chance of Y+ on either flight unless other PAX move from Y+ to J.

That sounds like the more likely scenario where a Y+ PAX is upgraded to J making space for Y passengers to be upgraded to Y+. In any case, I'm not holding our much hope this time around :)

That could happen, although I suspect most of the large number of people who have requested upgrades are coming from Y.
The cash premium for Y+ is large and the reduction in points to upgrade is not proportionate. So unless they really want to pay to Y+ or they know it tilts the upgrade lottery slightly in their favour, why would they bother?
If requests don't naturally clear space in Y+, there are seats in Y and no empty seats in the cabins above Y+ so they won't be doing op ups to create space in Y or Y+.

Date of travel : Apr 18 2020
Class of travel booked : Y (H)
Upgrade requested to : J
QFF Status : WP

Source : Singapore
Destination : Melbourne
Flight # : QF38

Aircraft, so far, listed in the booking : A330 (so no Y -> PE, if Y -> J not available)

Sorry is there a question here? If so a to and from and flight number would help :)

Upgrade to J came through for both myself and a colleague. Very surprising given it was J0. Perhaps folks are cancelling due to coronavirus
That's great news.
Not sure where you are getting the J0 from - when I checked QF93 was J4 and QF94 was J9. EF now shows J2 & J4 respectively.
Looking another way, QF93 is now showing 1 seat in J but that's typically reserved until the last minute and, unless sold by reservation cut off, will be filled by an upgrade at checkin, in the lounge or at the gate. Lots more seats for QF94 but they woudln't have processed most (if any) of the upgrades yet.
In any event there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth by disappointed would-be-upgraders.
Glad you'll be sipping champagne instead!

By J0 I mean a couple of days ago I tried a fake booking for 1 passenger in J on the qantas site and the flight wasn’t available to book.

Can someone clarify the situation with the flight availability data- I'm not looking for an upgrade but to see how full the flight is because I am a little worried that they might be cancelled. due to lack of passengers.

The flight in question is SQ 392 Singapore - Istanbul on 22 March. And SQ 391 Istanbul - Singapore on 8 May. BCD.com has both on the schedule but shows no data for availability for either flight.

Our connecting flights to/from Australia show availability data - and apparently very empty planes.
