PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Hi & thanks for your detailed advice, sorry can I ask what the numbers & letters relate to?

The individual fare buckets.

J9 indicates Qantas are willing to sell 9 tickets in the J bucket (the most expensive business class fare bucket). The other business class fare buckets are C, D and I. The fact that they're willing to sell tickets in the cheapest business class fare bucket (I) is a sign that they might be willing to give those seats to upgrades as they probably don't expect to sell them all.

Conversely, when I look at a flight where I'm hoping for an upgrade and see the following:

J2
C0 D0 I0 Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 G0

It indicates the economy is completely sold out and they're only willing to sell two seats in business at the most expensive price (J), so I'm therefore not hopeful my upgrade will clear.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

How do you source information on the fare buckets? I can only see the seat map allocation on expert flyer.

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Hi,

Would a kind soul help me out and have a look at the loads on

EY461 on 26 Dec 2016 (MEL - AUH)
EY19 on 27 Dec 2016 (AUH - LHR)

I know it's a bit far out but just curious to see what business and first cabin is like!

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate

Would someone tell me what the load for QF10 (LHR - MEL) on October 13th 2016 is like? I know it's a few weeks off but I asked for a Y > J upgrade when I booked my ticket so just wondering the likelihood at the moment

Hi team,

Could someone please check loadings for

QF829 DRW - SYD departing this Friday 23/9 @ 0145, and
QF846 SYD - DRW departing this Sunday 25/9 @ 1955 or
QF846 SYD - DRW departing next Monday 26/9 @ 1955

Thank you a bunch.

I am currently QF PS and MH SG, not that either really help. I have also never upgraded before, as I usually book classic awards in J straight off the bat. Unfortunately none available at short notice and hoping a Red E-Deal in both directions will result in an upgrade being approved given the red eye!

These are very interesting figures and correlate with the yield management making only the more expensive fares available because....you guessed it..... its school holiday season!!!

People complain when fuel prices go up during the holidays but seem to be quiet when airline fares go up during the same period.

Thanks mate, much appreciated. What are your thoughts on the J6 situation?

I believe J9 means you are basically guaranteed an upgrade... Is this correct?
