PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

With I availability, your chances are good.

What are the loadings for QF107 SYD-JFK? (They can be surprisingly different)

I availability has slightly dropped to 7. Current loadings on QF107 SYD-JFK:

J/9 C/9 D/9 I/7 U/0

Fingers crossed for a points upgrade! Would love to enjoy J on long-haul for the first time.

Although as I pointed out in an earlier post, around 12 J seats have been changed to blocked status today on the ExpertFlyer seat map, from previously being in an unoccupied status yesterday.

You should have a look at the PE seat map too.
If that shows fewer than 9 seats unoccupied, it suggests overselling.

Here is the PE seat map:

I assume this shows an overselling situation as loads for PE are 9+ :

W/9 R/9 T/0 Z/0 Y/9 B/0 H/0 K/0 M/0 L/0 V/0 S/0 N/0 Q/0 O/0 G/0 X/0 E/0

Can anyone give an idea on upgrade possibilty QF1 3/08 or 4/08 econ - PE?
Thanks!

Here are the numbers; it's probably a bit soon to draw any conclusions:

3/8
F9 A6 J9 C9 D1 I1 W8 R4 T0 Y9 B9 H9K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 G0 X9 E0

4/8
F7 A4 J9 C9 D0 I0 W8 R2 T0 Y9 B9 H9K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G0 E0

Yes, thanks - I guess I know its too early to judge clearly, but any idea which date looks like the better chance?

Both W8 at the moment, but given that 3/8 has X9, it probably means there are less pax in Y on that day, and there should be less people fighting for the points upgrade, if available.

Hi guys,

have upgrade requests on two flights at the moment, from what I can see i am some chance of the first but no chance of the second.

Your thoughts?

QF81 Syd - Sin 27th October

QF6 Sin - Syd 14th Nov

Am I better of cancelling the request and just using points to get QP membership so I at least get lounge access?

Thanks in advance

only a NB also

I'd say it's too far out to tell - and NB will not be helpful.

Both flights show J=0 in Expert Flyer, probably while they sort out the change of aircraft for QF5/6 (changing to A330 from 1/10/14 - see: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....el-news/qf-confirms-removal-pe-sin-61515.html). So J will reduce from 50+ to 30+ seats on QF6.

So until all the rebookings are sorted I don't think you will get any idea, but given the smaller J class on an A330 this would probably lesson your chances of an upgrade as NB. So I would contemplate QANTAS Club, which you can get through AFF at a slight discount. But no need to pull the trigger on that until you see how the bookings have been sorted out over the next few months or two.

Thanks for the quick replies JohnM and OATEK, will give it a while until I make the call. OT I know but how long does QANTAS Club take to setup? Could i do it the day before and just use my boarding pass to get in or so I need to do it weeks before so I have the card to use on entry.

You can pay extra to express the new card if you want. Otherwise allow about two weeks.

QF81 on 27/10 is downgraded to an A332. With J9 C4 and nothing else this far out, I would say chances are not good. For the flight back, nothing much we can do at the moment apart from wait. Although noting that QF82 on that day is also J0, it almost seems like they are trying to find volunteers to take the earlier flight. It's just a guess, but if that's the case, your chances are not very good.
