PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

I'm also pondering whether I should put in the points upgrade and hope for the double upgrade to F. I know a SG who got that once from PE, put in points upgrade for J and ended up in F.

That happened to a mate of mine on QF128 on Christmas Eve. Lucky bugger, although it was a 747 with the old F, but since he'd never flown J, it was still awesome for him. Nice op-up!!

So it has happened a few times on QF128.

Would they choose to upgrade a WP already booked in J or a WP upgrading into PE to J to go to F? Surely the former?

You would expect the former.

Well, my mate is a PS!!!! He reckoned there weren't any other single travellers in J so maybe that is why he got it so they could op-up someone from Y+ and then someone from Y, assuming Y was oversold.

Well when I did the flight on the 22nd Dec J was full - and there did seem to be lots of couples/families in J so it would make sense. I might go press that upgrade button now!

Yes go ahead - I reckon it's one of the better value uses of 25K points in any case.

Lets hope Santa gives me an early present ;)... Thanks Serfty

Hi All

Well after all my worrying i got the magic text about 23 hours before my flight that the upgrade to Business had been appoved for me (Silver QFF, and Wife Silver QFF) also got our upgrade on way back too so very happy.
That was QF9 - 20th Dec and QF10 Jan 3rd

Re: Qf 11

So I'm flying on Saturday QF128 and my upgrade still only says requested. Why didn't they clear me already at T-72 as a WP?

It's from T-48 for platinum.

Your request for an international Flight Upgrade Award will be considered in accordance with the following timetable:

  • Platinum One Frequent Flyers, from 7 days prior to the scheduled flight departure;
  • Platinum Frequent Flyers, from 48 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure; and
  • Other Frequent Flyers, within 24 hours of the scheduled flight departure.

Well - as expected EK12 on Monday from LGW to DXB wasn't full - but they did offer us J for £320... which we took.

Finally home via DXB and HKG ...

Re: Qf 11

Will the change show up on MMB earlier though?

I didn't see that and I was watching like a hawke. Also had seat alerts on EF.....SMS beat them all in the notification stakes.

The EF email alerts were quite slow coming through.

Re: Qf 11

Could someone please give me the loadings for SQ208 MEL-SIN on 18 January? I'm in J, just interested to know if its likely to be a full J cabin.

Thanks
