PLEASE INCLUDE DATE, FLIGHT NUMBER, ORIGIN & DESTINATION IN ALL REQUESTS
>>>> ADDED BY ADMIN (6 Sept 2010) <<<<

Background to this thread
We have noticed an increase in the posting of questions about seat availability on specific flights. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with specific questions about availability on specific flights. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.
We have therefore created this new consolidated thread where you can ask questions about seat availability on specific flights. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve useability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread
Please post questions about availability of specific flights or upgrade probability in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, date, origin and destination and any other relevant detail.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Thanks!

For Questions about Aircraft Configuration and Seat Availability, please use this thread:

See this thread for hints on how to read loadings:

If looking for, say Qantas points upgrades, look for A class for First, mid to high D or any I class for Business and any R for Premium Economy.

Look for the most expensive category of the cabin YOU are currently booked in as being sold out e.g. J0 to first, W0 to Business & Y0 to PE for increased op-up chances. Also, look for availability on the discount premium buckets (A, P, I, D, U, T & Z inventories).

Conversely, look for high numbers in the discount economy buckets (N, O, Q, E & X inventories) for reduced op-up chances.

Seat maps can be a VERY rough guide but note that just because a seat is not showing as allocated does not mean that seat hasn't been sold. Not everyone pre-selects seats.

Original thread title: update on QF93 on 12 sept

Appreciate it if someone could check EP for loadings.

Qantas Flight Seat Information wanted.

I have a Hong Kong to Sydney flight in PE on Sunday 25th September and have applied for an upgrade ( 50,000 points for 2 tickets).
Would some be able to check what Business seats are available. Hopefully many, which gives me a good chance of getting the upgrade.

I did get the upgrade on the way over.

They are still selling I class which (to me) indicates that the loads in J are not that high;

Concur - I availability 5 days before a flight does tend to indicate plenty of room available (unless in conjunction with an oversold Economy/PE cabin, characterised by Y0/W0).

Hi,

Newbie question...

I'm currenty booked QF9 18 June 2012 MEL LHR in JASA (U). Flightstats is currently showing A9 / F9.

I should have enough points to request an upgrade to first in two weeks.

Two questions - firstly; is flightstats accurate this far out? If so, it looks like heaps of availability in F.

Secondly, assuming availability when I have the points in two weeks, as I understand it from the T&Cs, I can request an upgrade, but I'm not sure when I can request it.

The rule says "16.3.1 Flight Upgrades can be requested for a specific flight and date by phoning Qantas or, if you hold an E-Ticket at this website, between 90 days and 24 hours before scheduled departure from the first port of the flight. Requests for Flight Upgrades will not be accepted within 24 hours of scheduled departure from the port of origin."

Does this mean that if I phone, I can request the upgrade as soon as I have the points, but can only request online via the website 90 days out, or is it just badly worded, and I can only request 90 days out in any case.

Thanks.

Flightstats shows what the GDS it uses returns.

This far out, such F/A availability is common. Checking 4 weeks out may give a better pointer.

It's 90 days and you must have enough QFF points at the time of request. Online it's UTC in relation to scheduled departure time, but calendar day if calling.

The flight was absolutely sold out in the span of 3 days , resulting in no upgrade. At least I had Premium Economy. I guess we can never depend on getting an upgrade.

I was on QF128 the next day - departing HKG on Monday 26th. We had a PE -> J points upgrade request in, and a few days out the flight looked wide open (F9 A9 J9 D9 I8 W5 T1 Y9... or something like that from what I recall). Our points upgrade came through about 24 hours ahead of departure.

Then, at the gate, the magic beep - seat change to 2E/F and our first experiene of longhaul F and the rare and wonderful "double upgrade".

F was full. Didn't venture back to check the rest of the plane... too busy enjoying the Taittinger Blanc de Blancs and the Chard River Pinot Noir :D! Even if F is getting a bit tired on the 747s, Mrs Sometimeflyer was still impressed.

Can anyone tell me probabilityof J to F upgrade on QF63 SYD-JNB on 4th October.
There seems to be plenty F available for sale, and my favourite seats in J are already taken (I'm WP so no problem in pre-selecting usually) . I submitted the request last week.

With loads like this QF 063 F8 A8 I would guess yes there is a chance. Don't think they will all be sold by next Tuesday

Many thanks.I guess I should take out a subscription to Expertflyer....

I'm returning in F (A) so getting the outbound section would be a nice bonus too.

I have 2 L tickets on QF11/QF3289 for 05OCT (SYD-LAX-DEN). Have put in online upgrade requests for both W and J upgrades (wishing I could request F upgrades cos I have plenty of points).

Odds on getting this in J?

As a WP+, is there an advantage to calling up to check on the status?

Hi. Just wondering what the chances are of upgrade to business on:

1. QF 77 Perth to Singapore 27 Oct
2. QF 78 Singapore to Perth 31 Oct

Many thanks

QF11 for 05OCT is as follows:-

F9 A7 P0 J9 C9 D9 I9 U0 W9 R9 T9 Z0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9 G9 X2 E0

So based on the I9 and the fact the seat map shows 20 unallocated J seats at this stage, I would be extrapolating that you have a very good chance of being upgraded to J.

Good luck + enjoy the flight, and let us know how it turned out.

I am asking this question (interpretation really) in the correct thread I hope. This from flight stats:

First Bus Eco other
QF 82(QF) Qantas AirwaysSIN 9:25 PMADL 6:55 AM333
n/a 9 9 n/a

For a flight in mid January (so hopefully the Business Corporate flights are quiet)

Hoping to upgrade from V Economy to Business with a Gold member and a Bronzer. I take it that 9 is the default number?

With flightstats, if you gently"mouse-over" each the numbers (as in the '9' for "like 9 for each cabin"), the bucket details should appear alongside "Fare Classes:" in a mini pop-up.

See the thread "Understanding Expert Flyer" linked to in post #1 on how to interpret the fare bucket loadings.

I have tried doing this before but thanks to your persistence I finally *get* it. The following categories are all 9 - J C D and I, but the only ones "available" as an upgrade are D and I; which at this stage anyway, are looking good. A few weeks to go though....
