I'm very curious about this: What does one need to do to become a flight attendant, giving out all the food and greeting guests..? Is it enjoyable and does it pay well?

It would be identical to that of a restaurant waiter, only you do it at a higher altitude and you don't get tips.

Look at the various airline web sites for specific requirements as they vary. eg Virgin only employs barbie look alikes with painted on smiles. etc..

Oops, sorry :!:

...as distinct from Virgin Blue which only employes young (and often insincere ) people with painted on smiles and fake hair colour.

You'll need to put the correct em-FAR-sis on the right SYL-lables.

Aww... now that's hitting below the belt. :(

Quite seriously, I have found the Virgin Blue crews to be very sincere and not at all fake. They always seem very committed and happy in their jobs. It makes flying with the airline much more fun.

Some QF crews by comparison seem to be a disgruntled lot. But I understand why - they are constantly being screwed down and losing benefits.

My imagination runs wild at the thought :!:

My father convinced me that staying in the family business was ultimately going to be more rewarding in the long run. 20 years on, he was right.

I thought this was what they looked for (note the overseas base ;))

Thanks everyone for your replies, I have looked in my other topic and people have told me that flying planes gets boring if you do it too much, so perhaps this is not the job for me, just the oocasional flight will do :)
