Fiscal Cliff may disrupt Air Travel in the US

The whole "fiscal Cliff" thing has really been overhyped by the media. The extra tax and savings for 2013 will be $600B.However the annual deficit is $1.2T.So there will still be a deficit of $600B in 2013 which is higher than any deficit prior to 2009.
The difference between the Obama plan and the Boehner plan is miniscule.Obama's will drop the deficit by 15% in 2013,the Boehner plan by 18%.
The next problem comes on Monday when the US hits their debt ceiling-earlier than predicted. This will lead to even more wheeling and dealing. And the Fed will just continue to print money so they say no problem.Except China is no longer a nett buyer of US bonds.
Who knows what will happen to the US economy and when. They are in uncharted waters.

Something will get sorted, the repercussions are too bad not to...

Although more than a few wars and other catastrophes have been caused by people playing chicken and thinking they were a bit too smart for thier own (and others) good...

Of course it depends on how long the money lasts and government employees get paid. Do you really want an unpaid ATC looking after your plane?

Energy self sufficiency in 2017 is already changing the business landscape in the US as they prepare for this huge turnaround.
They will probably start the financial repairs from a little over 20 trillion in the hole.
I guess they might move from having 2 or 3 immigration booths open to 1 or 2 at LAX to beat back the fiscal cliff.

Cove I read they will be energy self sufficient in 2014 and their energy source will be so cheap it will mean jobs outsourced to China and India will come back to the US because it will actually be cheaper to manufacture in the US then India or China. Now might be a time to look at investing in the US.

Yes major companies like Dow Chemical are building new plants in the US near to places that have 100 to 1,000 years of energy supply. They can then export their production of goods to the world if the price of energy is world competitive.
In the mean time if it means an extra 10 minute wait in a processing lane then I am ok about that.
Hopefully none of the US banks have lent money to the European banks!

News Details - County Bans Use of Hydrofracking Byproduct Brine on County Roads and Property

The Legislature, by unanimous vote (Legislator Kathy Luz Herrera was excused), passed a resolution prohibiting the use on County roads and property of brine containing the byproducts from hydrofracking.

The measure “bans the spraying, depositing, placing of all hydrofracking byproducts, including brine liquid, upon roads and properties for which Tompkins County is responsible” and indicates that the prohibition will be reflected in relevant bidding documents and contracts. County officials have learned that there are certain areas adjacent to hydrofracking sites where roads are being sprayed with hydrofracking byproduct brine, for uses such as deicing and dust control. The measure notes that the Legislature recognizes the dangers of additional harmful contents contained within the fluid and, therefore, wishes to prohibit its use on County roads and properties.

Legislator Mike Lane inquired as to whether the County could pass a local law banning use of such fluid anywhere in the county, and Legislator Frank Proto suggested local stormwater regulations could offer some regulatory authority. Further investigation is in process.
