First Time MH Business flight

Interesting, i was told i shouldnt have done a webcheckin for my flights if i wanted to combine flights / check my luggage all the way through to the end. So she had to go through and uncheck me before being able to do that. Didnt realise that.

Yes i was told this and hoping to use it if i can. I presume thats only after i have flown J class? AS in Syd - KUL J and then KUL - BKK Y and i use business lounge in both sydney and KUL.

What about on my return where my first leg is Y and then my long leg is J ? As in Bkk - KUL Y and then KUL - Mel J Class. Can i use the lounge in BKK as well? or only in KUL?
The connecting rule works both ways, so shorthaul connecting to long haul gives you lounge access before the shorthaul. So you have access on the return from BKK.

Interesting. No issue for me
Separate MH tickets SGN-KUL and KUL-SYD with 5hr layover in KLIA
On line Checked in for both separately
No mention by checkin at SGN

I've done on-line check-in on separate tickets. But you need a check-in desk to intervene if you want your luggage to be through-checked.

It's not a big issue. But it takes them a little while.

Yeah i went to the desk to get the bags done and she was like "why did you do a web checkin if you wanted to link the bags to go to your final destination. Next time dont do it" .

Maybe i got someone who was stressed out already and felt it was extra work. I gotta say after only having flown Business Singapore , Malaysian Business on the new planes has some good seat features but the checkin and flight attendants service was not as good.

oh wow, that is good news, i didnt think it would work like that too. Any idea if malaysia has a lounge in BKK or is it like Thai airways or emirates lounge? I know qantas uses Emirates i think?

I was on the MH website this week booking a flight and it said if I logged into my enrich account and booked it I would get a 5% discount. Was worth the effort and even though I booked in logged into my enrich account I could add my QFF number to the booking. After booking I received another email saying thanks for booking a business flex flight, here is a code for 10% off your next business flex booking,.code valid for 90 days. Not a bad discount and something to keep in mind for those who are booking multiple flights.

Did you know that if your flight transits in KUL for another international destination (say SYD-KUL-LHR) and you are planning a stop over in KUL , you can book a free domestic side trip (just pay the taxes)

Instead of "book a flight", use "bonus side trip" - book your main flight , then the website takes you to available side trips.
The free domestic trip may even include regional destinatons like Krabi in Thailand

There was an old AFF article:

If flying J and it’s open use the QR lounge, best lounge hands down in BKK
Is QR Lounge Qatar?

Btw does the Business long haul connecting flight system work for which line i check in at the start even if its economy ticket for the initial short haul? As in I am flying BKK to KUL economy and then business from KUL to MEL and then economy Mel to Syd (This last leg was booked as part of the business return but they mustnt have had business direct to sydney so i am transiting via Mel and then its economy for some odd reason instead of business)

So can i check in on the business Counter at BKK and does that mean boarding etc is also via the business line even though i have a economy ticket for that leg or is it only that i can use the lounge but dont get any other benefits?

The other query i had was with my return ticket does it mean i need to go through customs and baggage collection at Melbourne even though my ticket was meant to be KUL to Sydney due to Melbourne being the first australian port i land in?

And finally i was thinking of using the limo service to change terminals at Kul (I think its from the main terminal to the satellite terminal), Where do i go when i land from BKK to KUL?

So can i check in on the business Counter at BKK
how you check in does not impinge on the perks

Correct

Where do i go when i land from BKK to KUL?
lIf atthe Satellite terminal look for it near Gate C1

if in the main terminal the limo sign is near Gate G1
Though if the aerotrain is running, I would just catch the aerotrain.
I suppose do it once for the novelty.

Correct

Sorry I meant am i able to check in at the business counter in BKK and go through the business security lines etc to avoid the crowds even though that leg is my short haul economy leg? It would save me time and more time at the lounge.

Hmm, In KUL I only have 2 hours transit time, so maybe limo service will eat into my lounge time a bit but i may never get the chance to fly MA business again so was thinking of trying it just one time.

In the main terminal, head to gate G1. There should be a staff member checking your eligibility and guide you to the lift on the right. If nobody's there, head down that right hand side lift (when you enter G1). It is an operating gate so don't walk left when you enter G1 or you'll end up with others waiting to board their flight. Someone will greet you in the limo lobby when you get down there. Enjoy.

People seem to be of the opinion that it takes longer using the private limo service. More often than not, I have had a limo ready for me when I arrive with no wait at all. Where I had to wait, it wasn't any longer than a few minutes. Since MH started this service, I have not caught that temporary bus or the airtrain.
Cramming in with the great unwashed on the bus or train is now so unappealing 😄

Yes, the Qatar lounge.
I don’t know if it’s even open currently with what’s going on in the ME.
Others might know definitely but I’m not sure you will get in if flying Y connecting to J.

Oh good point, it might be closed due to not having any of their flights in operation.

Generally if you have a business class segment somewhere you can check-in at the business class counter. Justification for that is that you want the appropriate priority labels etc.

Do not expect those benefits to extend to things like fast-track or priority boarding. If you are given a fast-track voucher/printed on the boarding pass… that’s fine. But if you need a business class boarding pass to access those services, and you don’t have one, then you follow the regular lines.

Same with priority boarding… your boarding pass determines that.

The benefit is for lounge access… not business class status.
