Hi...Just made Gold due to a recent status run and my plan year ends October 31st 2013 ...so I have the Gold Status until October 14.

Just a few questions though around this though , does that mean that the 4 QF qualifying flights required should be taken in the plan year Oct - Oct ? and any further flights I make prior to October this year will not count towards the requirement, is that correct?

If the above is correct then do any JASA flights I book and travel on after October count towards the 4.

Being Gold now do I earn any extra bonus SC's by flying with Qantas, I am not sure how that works or is it only points that are sometimes given as a bonus. I am currently sitting on way too many points and really need to use some of them up.

I am currently a Velocity Gold and that will end in April and I have not been able to maintain that status but when originally achieved I also received Hilton Honours Gold, do Qantas offer the same ? I think I will struggle to maintain QFF Gold past October 2014 so will try and take up every opportunity to earn the SC's required. Thanks

Congratulations. :)

Yes, I believe that is correct. On your anniversary date (October 31st from your message), all eligible sectors and status credits will be reset to 0. You'll then need to fulfill the eligible sectors requirement and earn > 600 SCs between 1st November 2013 and 31st October 2014 in order to maintain Gold after the end of your next membership year.

My understanding is: yes; ASAs flown after 31st October 2013 will count towards the eligible sector requirements for your 1st Nov -> 31st Oct 2014 membership year, as will SCs. (Assuming no changes to the programme before then.)

You do not earn bonus SCs, but you will earn a 50% status bonus to POINTS (not SCs) on Qantas flights.

My belief is that there is no such thing as 'way too many points'. :D

No, at present I don't think there are any 'partner programmes' such as with Velocity and Hilton Honors, etc.

I hope that helps, and I hope I haven't got anything wrong.

Doesn't matter when they're booked, as long as they're travelled in the period so yup spot on again :)
You do not earn bonus SCs, but you will earn a 50% status bonus to POINTS (not SCs) on Qantas flights.
Not quite ;) It's actually better. 75% points bonus for SG's.

100% for WP, 75% for SG actually :D
Ugh. Getting Confused with AA. AA platinum = 100%, EXP = 100%. Gold = 50%.

I'm still jet lagged I swear (I'm living on so much coffee, I think there's blood in my caffeine stream *twitch*) ;)

AA Gold is 25% bonus

I just achieved gold for the first time this weekend from my flight on Friday. Looked in my QFF account and was very excited to see gold written. My year ends January 31st. When are DSC offers likely for this time? I have never been offered one but still keep hoping. :)

I just made QF Gold for the first time too. Hopefully someone can answer my questions. (Sorry if hijacking your thread)
I'm taking some flights around Europe and USA in Feb with BA & AA in Y & Y+. When checking in, can my travel buddy (who is NB and on the same ticket) and I go straight to the LHR T5 and other airports business class' counters, regardless of my travel class for my flights. Am I correct in thinking we get lounge access as well? Are there other perks?
Once again, rookie, novice - first time SG here :)

I am currently on Bronze 120 SC (ending 31 Jan 2014) and have PER-DEL-PER flights booked with MH where I think I will be earning some SC's.

Should I look into doing a status run prior to Jan 31 in order to elevate myself to Silver? (180 SC's over xmas period may be do-able).

If I were you, I would save your cash and do the status run in your following year, with the intention of hitting gold. There's really not much reason to do a status run to achieve silver only.

No one really knows when the offers are made, and its random QFF member selection a lottery if you like.

I actually have a PER-SIN return Qantas flight full flexi in Y booked for this week for work... Is it worth using my points upgrading to J (to get extra SC's) even though I will lose all my SC's on 31 Jan 2014?

Points upgrade wont get you the extra SC or miles.
They will be earned at the original purchased fare rate.
