Does QantasLink A220's in use mean the demise or reduction in the QantasLink/Alliance Airlines collaboration, i.e. using QQ metal on QF routes?

First batch of 29 A220s will replace the 717s after that they might replace some E190 flying with extra A220s but I am sure Qantas got Alliance to operate at a bargain price.

I hope thats not suggesting that the 350s also won't have IFE.. very different flight times.
The Qantas A350 IFE screens will the largest and most advanced in the industry when the aircraft begins ops in late 2025.
The A350 is using the latest in next gen IFE from Panasonic's Astrova series.

From memory the spec sheet had it as a 13" 4k OLED Screen, BT connectivity, streaming capable with multiple 67w USB C output along with loads of modular configurations. Add in that the a350 is supposed to launch with proper streaming capable wifi, I'd say once those come in, it'd be a very competitive IFE.

Size isn't the only thing that matters here. Thats like saying I had an ipad 10 years ago so the ipad I have today is the same as the screen size hasn't really changed.

Edit: For context - 13-14" 4k OLED touchscreen laptops have only really become an affordable mass consumer product in the last 2-3 years or so. There's still a price premium on them as well so make of that as you will. I have no doubt that by late 2025 it'll be more common, but it won't necessarily be "outdated".

Not at all - at least for the next 5-6 years. The A220s aren’t even replacing the 717s in the short term as all 20 717s will be retired by July despite Qantas only having 2 A220s in the fleet - so the E190 is the short term replacement for the 717s, and will continue to be until the end of this decade. The reality is contrary to what the aviation media portrays.

I think you will find it’s A220 and E190 that will start eating into 737 flying, whilst the A321 will do new International and 737 ops.

It’s no trade secret that Alliance picked up E190s on very favourable terms, I think you will find they will be apart of QFs ops for as long as they exist.

I disagree, the size and clarity of the screen is what matters and whether one can cast to it from your own phone/tablet.

If specific content is important to you, you would already have subscriptions to one or more streaming services and have downloaded sufficient content for the duration of your journey.

If you’re marketing yourself as a premium carriers its, screen quality is definitely important ie the screens on the 332s are frankly an embarrassment for QF considering the length of flights they operate.

Content is important if you can’t cast (do any carriers offer that)? never travel with a tablet /ipad and I don’t want to carry one just to watch something on the plane, phone is fine for <4 hours but not more.
 
Personally I do not leave home without my tablet, so much easier to make bookings, deal with correspondence etc than a phone.

Apart from the map to see how much longer its going to take to arrive, I rarely watch the IFE content, as always better programming on my own device.
