First ever flight as WP - what to expect

There was no discernible onboard difference for me between Bronze, Silver or Gold. I doubt there will be one for Platinum.

This is juxtaposed with DJ who make you feel like a king in J.

my first flight as WP tonight - upgrade to J just declined :-| but have 80A so will console myself in The Wing

putting the 'Upgrade At the Airport' system to the test...

On my first ever flight as a WP I got put in a middle seat at the back of a 737, due to an aircraft change. One of the worst seats QF has ever given me!

The difference I noticed is that the crew asks me my meal preference before they start the meal service to make sure that I get my first choice

This is why I never select the A/B seats on a 763 service. If it gets changed to a 737, you keep those seats.

If you select J/K on the other hand, you'll be automatically reallocated :)

Anna, did you 'get' the seat, or was it the best one left for you to select?

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Not sure if I should thank those who dragged my thread off somewhere else, but whatever.

I thought I should report on my virginal WP trip.

Boarding at Perth I was pleasantly surprised, although no policing of the PB lane, I breezed straight through. Flight was probably one of the worst for a while, delays at both ends, same old food and drink service was below par (feedback sent to QF). Nothing special but nothing special expected.

Return from BNE, applied for an upgrade and after a day wait got it (assume WP helped that ?). Went to the business lounge at BNE which is really nothing flash. PB working fine and seat 2B was sweet. In flight service was great (feedback sent to QF).

So I expected nothing special and was not disappointed.

Ashleyn..welcome to WP. I pipped you by a few months. I am plotting to keep it for a while. Mostly for fun and the odd access to Flounges. Better seat selection.
Enjoy

Enjoying the F lounge in SYD as we speak (for a good 5 hours today :))

Here are some notes from my inaugural WP flights:

SYD-HKG
-Greeted by CSM onboard in Y, served drinks before the rest of the cabin (also served first for meals and checked on several times throughout flight).
-On boarding greeted by name and suit hung in F closet

HKG-SYD
-SYD F Lounge - got a facial treatment at last minute along with breakfast and lunch (the restaurant tables filled up at lunch so I just ordered and ate near the library to plane watch...a few go arounds today in the high wind)
-SYD F Lounge - proactively moved to CX when QF87 was cancelled
.....now waiting to see how the CX OWE treatment compares to the QF onboard

and it was good! i got to the gate handed over my BP and then the heavens opened, the chorus sounded...well not quite but it did do the magic red beep.

Voila - PE Upgrade!

Very, very good flight - trip report to come now that I've sampled all the PE carriers on HKG-SYD

Not always the case.

I select J seats most times and do not get re-allocated a new seat when an aircraft substitution happens. Every week or so I check my next 3-4 bookings to make sure everything is OK and will notice a missing seat allocation and realise that an aircraft substitution has occurred.

Next weeks flight I had 25J pre-allocated and when I went to look at my booking yesterday I did not have a seat pre-allocated anymore. The aircraft was substituted to a ex-BA 767 with no row 25. I have now pre-allocated 26J.

My last substitution of a 767 to a 737 had me reallocated to 1D
