Were you travelling on one of the strike days or the grounding day?

Yes - we were both travelling together on the same booking on the grounding day.

Got a refund for our flights and travelled Virgin the following day. We finally got our additional costs refunded by Qantas and the 25% bonus points for subsequent flights have been appearing for both of us. My wife is Qantas Club Silver, I was Bronze at the time of grounding and when the emails came out in Nov indicating the gifts - have since moved to Silver however.

Should everyone have received a "gift" in addition to bonus points as a result of the grounding ?. In this forum Red Roo gave the impression that everyone should be receiving a "gift" of some sort. Any thoughts ?

There was a list of gifts for people impacted by the grounding published by Red Roo. The assumed (by me) tiers to which the gift relate are below:

In addition, if you were directly impacted by industrial action you will be offered a unique Qantas gift or experience, such as complimentary membership to epiQure by Qantas Frequent Flyer – the online food and wine community, a Qantas’ First Lounge or Qantas Club invitation, a voucher for Qantas Valet or Qantas Drive, or a complimentary Q Bag Tag, depending on your tier status.

epiQure - Platinum
F lounge invite - Gold
QP invite - Silver
Qantas Valet/Qantas drive - QP Silver
Q Bag tag - Bronze

I think as a one off experience just to do it, it might be worth $250. If I had never been to an F lounge and didnt expect to in the future I might be tempted based on the rave reviews here.

You're right, it may indeed be tempting enough in the situation you describe. The only problem I can see is that it can be a little addictive, and once may not turn out to be enough! If/when I drop below WP, I know I'll definitely miss them! :D

Cheers - although there was no indicaton in the email or letter I got from Qantas indicating any of the above. Do you think this is worth (another) call to QFF ?

Now that I have qualified for Silver I believe I will get a Q tag anyway.

Interesting that my wife who was, and is QP Silver got an F lounge invite rather than the Valet/Drive as you suggest. I think Rafferty's rules has been in play with the gift giving :)

Quite possibly - those were my best guesses based on what people currently don't get - P1 get epiQure but WP don't, WP get F lounge access but gold don't and so on...

Thanks again - all I am after is to be able to enter the lounge at the same time as my wife on 1st Jan when we fly to LAX. Not fussed about the other freebies.

I notice Red Roo is on this thread ATM - any thoughts or help would be fantastic

There are a number of these passes on eBay now. The buyItNow price around $135-$145 if anyone is interested.

Passes have been removed from Ebay. All the ones I was watching out of interest are no longer listed.

I know a QP silver who got a F Lounge invite

I know a QP silver who got a F Lounge invite

Yeah me... :D

I'd say however it was the QP membership which changed it from a QP pass to an F Lounge invite. What would I do with a QP pass apart from give it away to family?

Yeah me... :D

And me!

They were certainly inconsistent with who got an offer, and who didn't. Both myself and my better half were QP PS flying over the grounding weekend - got stranded in MEL for the night when we had only been planning being there for the day. Requal period ended 31/10. So both QPPS when the actual event happened. I maintained PS -got the FLounge invite, my other half dropped to NB and received nada (other than the free flight).

Not sure if any difference occurred because I was hit twice (had a flight on the Sat night, and another on the Sun night - different PNR, also cancelled). I FLounge pass, but 2 "Fly Free" vouchers....

Interesting that those passes are now commonly available on eBay and they are no longer being pulled? I'm not sure that there are any that have an expiry past the end of this year

Why do I comment? - currently sitting in the Sydney lounge and suitably impressed! - thankfully this trip will get me to Platinum so I won't be needing to buy any!

No there have been dozens sold on eBay. If I need to go Qanats before the end of the year, I may get one. They'll probably get cheaper like options that expire.

Are these passes good for SIN F lounge?

You wouldn't waste your money on paying for a pass for the current Sing F lounge - its rubbish and is in fact the old J lounge while a new F lounge is built
