Thanks for the tip! I've been allocated 16A on 10th Sep QF 29 looks almost full in J as per EF seat map. Here's hoping I score a seat downstairs :)

Can't you change it now? As WP you should be able to preallocate in the F cabin... or are they already taken?

QF are still selling F seats on website. On manage my booking I cannot allocate a seat in F cabin. I was allocated 16A on the telephone by seating dept. I didn't ask about F Cabin as I presume that they will not do so whilst selling F class on that flight.

If they are selling F seats then it is unlikely that you will be able to get an F seat with J service. It is only when hey do not sell F seats at all that you can allocate an F seat with J service.

I did it from London and routed through HKG for that reason :)

Fingers crossed for the op-up then ;)

I'm a little lost here are you telling me that I am now paying for a f class seat and there filling it with b class passengers ? And how did this go from a question on first class lounges to getting a seat in the pointy end lol

I just love this place

Before 2nd August QF weren't selling F on the QF 29/30 routes. The F seats were sold as J (with J service). Currently you have to pay for F or receive an op-up to F which is very different to what was happening previously.

I just love being referred to as a b class passenger lol!

So is the service f or j as I have a f ticket on QF029 for September
If you have an F ticket then its F seats and F service. Its only during teh period when they were not selling F tickets for that route that the F seats were enjoyed by J passengers who also received the J service for which they had paid.

From time to time, QF decides for whatever reason that the market for selling F tickets is not there, so they sell the flights as 3-class services but still operate with the usual 4-class aircraft. This has been done on a few occasions for a few months at a time on the QF29/40 route. They have also done it on SYD-SFO and SYD-EZE routes at times.

Do thay have a good wine list ?

I don't recall the other choices (I'm sure I have the wine list around somewhere though) on my recent F SIN-LHR flight, but I drank some Taittinger Comtes de something-or-other fizz (v. nice), and most of a bottle of Penfolds Bin 707 (2004 vintage, could easily have left it for many more years before consuming). Also excellent. If I can find the full list I'll post it.

I cannot comment on the wines available in any HKG F Lounge. But I can tell you that QF F Lounge has FW Black and The Glenlivet 12yo scotch and the CX F Lounges have Glenmorangie.
