It's not a new lounge in BKK. The Turkish lounge is fairly new (next to the SQ lounge) and Thai has just opened a new lounge, which is, by all accounts, very nice and a 100% improvement on its previous offerings.

Just ask at check-in for the SYD SQ lounge, or look for the signs.

Lounge access is on departure for the airports you have mentioned. There aren't many arrivals lounges on the star network.

I had never thought Turkish lounges or Thai lounges would be as good as the larger airlines as i guess i just always assumed the airlines that had a better rep for flights would automatically have better lounges and more money but that is probably not the case is it? Is the thai lounge very busy being i presume their main lounge as its in BKK

It really does vary. ‘Home base’ lounges which many people assume will be the flagship lounge doesn’t always translate in reality. Look at QF’s abysmal international business class lounge in Melbourne. And until recently, Thai’s five or six business class lounges in Bangkok... truly poor lounges The new TG lounge at BKK is chalk and cheese.

Turkish’s lounge in bangkok is small... with limited food... but the service is phenomenal. Which, until the opening of the new TG lounge, made it my preferred lounge in BKK.

To get the changi $20 vouchers are there specific times that its better to get it (less people in the line as i hear sometimes it can be really packed with long queues).

I was thinking of using the recommendations of people on here and use the $20 voucher to buy some duty free alcohol on my way home but i will be in Changi sunday night so was wary if night times it gets packed.

Check the queue on the way through, if too long, do it on the way back. You don't have to use the voucher on the same day.

That being said, I've never seen more than 3 or 4 people in line any of the times I've gone to collect.

So I can pick up the voucher on the way and then only use it on my return the next month? I had a feeling i could do this a long time ago but wasnt sure if it had changed.

As long as it by the expiry date (end of March I think, check the link).

Would this be the case for SQ Suites pax into SYD? I've got a lengthy wait before my dom VA connection.

I don’t believe there’s an arrivals lounge in sydney? Coming off SQ you’ll have to go straight through immigration, so no access to the lounges.
