FINALLY! - Citi launching Citi Prestige with Visa Infinite

I made a separate thread about this - but I may as well copy and paste in here also....

As some of you may be aware, Citibank Australia have removed product information about the Citi Prestige credit card from their website.

Some assumed the card is soon to be discontinued - but that is not the case. Citibank intend to make the card available to the public again starting from January (currently nobody can apply for the Prestige card).

The bad news is that SEVERAL Citi Prestige benefits are being ELIMINATED (e.g. airport "meet and assist" benefit, complimentary golf course access).

One of the MAJOR benefits Citibank are also eliminating is the complimentary one night at a 4 or 5 star hotel once a year anywhere in the world.

This particular benefit being removed in particular is infuriating, because this benefit alone is valued at around (I would guess) $350. I have personally used my one free night hotel stay at several 5 star hotels including Crown Casino Melbourne & Intercontinental Sydney. This is also a major benefit for those who travel to expensive cities like New York City or Singapore where hotel accommodation is through the roof. Getting a free night at a quality hotel in such expensive cities is a MASSIVE money saver.

Citibank intend on writing to all current Prestige Card holders (about several benefits being eliminated) sometime next month. I informed the CItibank phone representative about my disappointment regarding the complimentary hotel stay benefit coming to an end, and the representative advised me that she will pass on the feedback to her manager.

Considering these changes have not come into place yet and customers have not been informed of the changes in writing - I STRONGLY urge all of you to call Citibank (the Citi Prestige priority phone number is 02 8225 0042) and tell them your thoughts. If enough people call Citibank and let them know that we are not happy with this ballpark $350 benefit being eliminated - they may decide not to go ahead with the change.

Ultimately I am just annoyed with Citibank. This is supposed to be a "prestige" credit card with an annual fee of $700. Citibank seems to want to keep stripping away benefits, and i'm just so sick and tired of it - and don't even think I will keep the credit card in 2020 if Citibank goes ahead with the changes they intend to make (it just won't any longer be worth it for the annual fee I am paying).

Received the email yesterday about the change...

1 night hotel + reduced airport transfer is the 2 benefit I use most.....

apologies if the wrong thread,
been checking my relatives statemetns, they have the fee free for life signature from way back,

can anyone confirm how long its been $2 per 1 QFF point?

I left them on that product because it used to be 1:1

and I checked their physical card and now it says "Citibank Premier" on it

Well the Citi Prestige card is back on the Citibank website, and there are even bonus point offers available:

Edit: I see there's a lengthy thread about the recent changes to this card here: Several Prestige Credit Card Benefits to be Eliminated Jan 2020 (And I'm Not Happy!)

I packed it in and will continue with other cards like Amplfy, BW World and 2 Amex cards in Australia. I still run up zillions of points/miles and got sick of Citi Australia downgrades. I still like Citi US.

Checking Citibank online last night it appears GA no longer a transfer partner for pts - is this indeed the case and is that a recent change does anybody know?

Last transfer I did to GA was like 2 years ago and I was going to have another lick to secure flts to DPS for XMAS 2020

Gotta ❤ Citibank - they are always good for a giggle.

Prestige to swap over from VISA to MC - pretty straight forward huh? New MC arrives in mail so all good + 3 Supp cards to Supp holders - a week later another new MC arrives with diff card numbers + 3 Supps for Supp holders - confused? Me to so I call Citi - oh sorry second batch of cards are a mistake just throw them in the bin - pretty straight forward huh?

Week later received letter from Citi - sorry new MCs sent to you are WRONG as these are attached to QF Rewards and not City Rewards - we will send you out new cards - pretty straight forward huh?

Let's wait to see next twist.

Have avoided that merrygo round for a while now. They gave me an exit interview so I told them some home truths. Their US cards are ok.

i have never paid an annual fee to this day so the 4 x Stay 4 / Pay 3 promos annually are the only reason I retain the card - or is that now back to 2 x free annually?

Would like to confirm if the MC you received is MC World Elite or just normal MC?

My card is due for renewal next month, have had this card for just over 5 years now (having moved from other Citi products previously) and it's just not worth using anymore. I've been paying 1/2 price for the past 3 years, but with a $60k limit on it, even if I was offered it for free I would consider giving it up to get rid of the limit.

I do have just under 1m points in the account, and TBH about the only reason I can think of to keep the card is that it saves me having to move the points to a FF program in the current environment. I would only look to move them as a way of finalising the account, what are others doing in this scenario? Is it worth keeping in Citi for a minimal (potentially nil) annual fee for a bit more certainty than with the airlines?

Still some value in in if paying the half fee. I wasn't paying fee for a long time but now on half fee. Recently there were offers of $50 each for $1500 spend (4 times to my card) - so that kind of helped. But as you say - unless there is an upscaled offer of point redemption to existing point balances, it is kind of pointless to be spending on the card
