Final flights for the B767

If QF were really interested, they would put a 330 in as they take out a 767, but no, they are putting a lot more 737s, while taking out the 767s.
Few years ago, they even had 747s doing the PER to east coast flights, now most are 330s, but as has been mentioned by some on here, flying the 737 from PER to the east coast, 18x odd pax (full flight), wow, scary thought. 5.5 hours in a 737. I have only had that once, squashed, AKL to MEL.

4-5 hours in a 737 or A320 is pretty normal actually. Go to Europe, go to America and even some airlines around Asia. And get this few have Skybeds in business, some don't even have IFE, let alone personal IFE, all on such a horrendous flight time. Don't know how they survive the indignity of it all to be honest. Or maybe we Aussies have been spoilt over the years. I blame the 2 airline policy which is what lead to wide body introduction. Of course since real competition has come into place, after the demise of Ansett and rise of Virgin Australia, frequencies have increased and aircraft size has dropped. Except to Perth where frequency isn't as important.

But, I guess se la vie, eh?

Have you flown VA between PER and HKT before? Now that is the definition scary...

I flew BNE to SYD in 23A on a 737-800 in July last year. I'm just on 180 cm and my knees were just clear of the back of the seat in front (which wasn't reclined as far as I could see). On my return flight I was on a 767 in 47A. I had heaps of leg room. I understand that being old technology, they're probably way more expensive to operate, but I thought that the flight in the 767 was much more comfortable than the 737.

Took my (likely) last QF 767 flight yesterday. 35J a great seat!

iPad didn't work.

What was a state of the art computer when the a/c was built 23 years ago. The iPad probably wasn't even envisioned!

In some ways I prefer the look of the 'Old Roo' livery. :)

I think the 60 Minutes edition tonight has Charles Woolley off to Victorville in a 767 .... might be worth a look

Sorz to the mods for the extra work, but can we have a wiki page of sorts to see who's sitting where on the final 767 operated QF490 on the 27th of December?

It's a long way to go in a narrow body.

The return VA192 HKT-PER is also an overnight/redeye flight 4 days per week. With a flight time of 6.5 hours, that is a scary thought in a 737!

Just to add to the sentiments about the Qantas 767...

My first ever flight as a child was on a Qantas B767 from SYD to AKL. I also recall doing regular trips across the ditch in the 767 as a child and as much as I like Jetconnect, it will never quite be the same.

My first ever flight in business class was also as a child on a Qantas 767 from BNE to MNL.

I would agree with the many other posters in saying that I will miss this aircraft. There have even been times where I've paid a small premium so that I could fly on a 767 as it's just a more comfortable aircraft and a nicer overall experience domestically. With or without iPads.

It looks like the 767s will all be gone by the time I return to Australia so I have already had my last Qantas 767 flight. That's a sad thought.

I agree, I've travelled on many 767 flights on the "Golden Triangle" routes over the past couple of decades..... it will be a sad & distance memory very soon.

Its certainly a noisy bird upon take off & I guess its time to put the bird to bed when its such a fuel guzzler.

Hopefully someone might keep one In Australia as a tourist attraction (ie like The Qantas Founders Museum in Longreach) so that we can have a trip down memory lane in the years ahead.
