Feedback on the AFF website & brand refresh

Not a fan here and looks like a step backwards - it seems like it's just change for changes' sake, rather than making things better.

The logo though - can't help but think of Finnair but upside-down.

Have changed back to the Classic style - credit where due though, at the very least, this option has been retained and we can change back (unlike for some mobile phone updates etc)!

Please don't remove the option to change back.

I find the lighter coloured text harder to read. Too grey. It doesn't need to be black, but the previous darker shade of grey was less washed-out looking.

And signature text looks even more wishy-washy.

Not impressed.

Makes no difference to emails I'm afraid.

Also, for the weekly (?) gazette emails ......

The buttons don't present correctly. All in all, just a poorly thought out redesign.

As I've said with the trend of bringing on lots of new staff and pushing out lots of economy reviews to help them travel around the world and write it off for tax reasons, this forum has unfortunately just become pointless. Ironically, there's a transtasman J flight review thrown into the notification.
This makes it look like the VA marketing interns were let loose on the AFFer server 🤣

Who actually visits that ....... all the time ............ ? Sorry, but not someone who has been using the forum for 19 years.
I’d think many people would access the main forum page as they navigate the various forums, but obviously everyone is a bit different. Regardless of whether we believe we were/weren’t adequately consulted or informed about the changes, at least we’re all being invited to provide feedback and we’re all still given the option to revert to the ā€œClassicā€ look and feel if desired.

I exclusively get my input to AFF from updates to threads I'm subscribed from, so via e-mail. For those users, it's a negative experience. Changing the forum setting makes no difference there unfortunately...... have pinged a mod, so just waiting confirmation of the purge.

My bookmarked 'New Posts' page didn't change - it preserves the old style :)

I don't - hardly ever go there. This is my bookmarked opening page (was, and still is). Absolutely no diff if people don't want it. Why do people complain about credit cards etc when they don't ever need to see it?

I just looked at the emails I received today (including the latest newsletter). I use Gmail and they are displaying fine there (albeit in the new styling). I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect AFF to distribute emails and alerts in your preferred theme, however in terms of whether or not the email renders correctly in your email client? Unfortunately that can be a bit of a dark art to get right for each and every email application.

Fair enough. As I say, everyone is different. I guarantee if there was an email out to everyone, at least one person would be complaining they weren’t informed as they never read the emails šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

What are people complaining about the credit card and other stuff stuff? If you just want the benefits of the 'frequent flyer' forum, just bookmark it, as I have (and which auto preserved the old style).
People are referring to the actual homepage - which no longer features any news content whatsoever, and is essentially useless compared to how it was previously.

Gave it a go for a solid 30 minutes reading forum posts but found it harder to discern words with the new font. Especially the bolded words (post headings) where all the letters seemed to became a little too indistinct. It was readable, but required significant extra effort rather than being able to be scanned.

<AFF Classic Style> click!
Ahh, so much easier to read.

I feel a (subconscious) need to post about Finnair, but haven’t flown them since 2013… 😁

X-over cables are more a thing back in the day when ...... hubs existed, rather than switches, too. Oh, going from PC to PC be cable! Ah .. ! I remember the days with 10Base-T coax connectors too. Red Alert C&C? It was either that way, or via dialup.
Oh, hell yes!

Funnily enough, this is what I got when I clicked on that link - in the old style too, as that is my default. Probably shows how differently we all experience the place.

I'm keeping the old style until they iron out the obvious bugs, so not fussed at all.
