Thanking you :)

This will be my first business trip that is international... so obviously my first to HKG, do I need to organise any visas or are there any tips people can pass on?

Thanks!

763's = no skybeds is there ? (Been that long since i have been in an international config 763)
oh well thats life i guess, still much more comfortable that whY.

No visa should be required for AU residents on a tourist visit.

Yeh.. I was under the impression it would be a dreamtime seat.

And no Visa for tourist... but what about a business visit?

Umm good question, i have a China business visa but never been through on that.

I found this....

No visa is required for Australians on a business visit for a stay of up to three months (Visa Free Period), provided they have onward travel bookings and can show means of financial support.

But please check as this was not from the official site, just infomation i had at work.

Immigration Arrival card only asked for name, sex, travel document no., place and date of issue, nationality, DOB, POB, address in Hkg, home address, flight no:, place of embarkation and your signature.....nothing on purpose of visit.
Looks like you are home and hoist!

The Chinese business visa is 30 days isn't it. How long is the tourist visa, isn't it the same?

Ok.. awaiting a quote from Harvey.

Have got one from FC, that says:
AIRLINE HAS PNR IN S - PACKAGE FARE
V CLASS FOR JUST FLIGHTS IF NO LAND

Would either S or V class be upgradeable? (I'd check on Qantas, but its down at the moment..)

Just answering my own Q here.. I think S may be, and V is not?
NOQ! (no that not an acronym; just the NON upgradeable fare buckets)

Qantas are a bit oblique about this; but if you peruse the Frequent Flyer T&C available on their web site you will see the following:

15. Flight Upgrades

15.1 General

...

15.1.3 Flight Upgrades are not available when travelling on Restricted Fares or on Codeshare Flights.
&
2. Definitions

...

'Restricted Fare' means any Qantas fare ticketed in N, O or Q class, which includes some Qantas Red e-Deals;

Which *generally* speaking are the Red e-Deals? Excellent.

Having a look though, its a 763 so that would mean dreamtime seats, so I'm thinking there's no point, especially for 40 000 points each way.

Agreed, especially considering it costs that same amount of 40K points to upgrade into SkyBeds between MEL/SYD/BNE and SIN/HKG/BKK.

In my experience, this is more true on domestic that international sectors. Red-e-deals that I have seen on PER-SIN and PER-HKG have tended to be in V, which is upgradeable

That would be my view as well!

When booking on Qantas.com you can check the upgrade-ability of the fare before committing to the purchase. This is normally under the "Frequent Flyer" information on the fare type summary.
