The tone of the Virgin Lounge in Melbourne has just hit rock bottom.

The Collingwood Football team are here :!:

The staff are confident they will have the lounge back to a usable state for this evening. :D

Was at the Hilton LAX Bar last night with Flayva Flav. I had no idea who he was until my drinking buddy pointed him out.

Also got to meet Penn & Teller in Vegas. Really nice guys (and yes, Teller does actually speak!)

Awesome! Did you get him to autograph a clock? It's times like that when wearing copious amounts of bling pays off!

Litres of dettol needed no doubt. Were their parole officers with them?

I've flown quite a bit but never seen a famous person and known about it. A flight steward once pointed out a member of the Damn Yankees (who?) to me.
My lady friend, though, sat next to Kirk Douglas for a whole flight without realizing who it was.

So here I was on my circuitous way to an FT do. I was in transit in SYD. So I sit down at a long table and shortly after a very colourful gentleman sits down at the end of the table. I bury my head in my work. Then shortly after , another person approaches and strikes up a conversation with vcg. Turns up it is Dr Karl Kruzelnicki.
Wow, someone famous. Shortly after , his flight is called, he excuses himself, and heads off for his flight.
I relax. Five minutes later, gentleman approaches talking on mobile, back to me, sits down nearby. Was very quiet and considerate. Some minutes later, he turns around , and I recognize former Qld and Australian cricketer, Mr Adam Gilchrist. He continues mobile phone call for about 30 minutes, always very quiet, and considerate of other guests.
Soon after, my flight is called, and walk to gate. Boarding Pass is scanned. Uh oh, it beeps ...Oh Mr JohnSydney2000, our flight is very full, and we need to seat you at the front of the plane to fit other passengers on the plane. No problems, I say, just bring back anytime access as well. Only glitch, I have to wait till last, and be escorted on the plane. Final group to board is a large sporting group...the Sri Lanka cricket team.
Wow, I rarely recognise famous people; and all this happened very recently over about 90 minutes.

Then I spent quite a few hours later in the day with many famous people from this forum...but that is for another story. John.

Just returned from a brief holiday away from the outback which saw me in Melbourne for a concert (Roxette) on Satuday night. Monday morning and I get my midday QF to Adelaide and there are Roxette down in row 1. .......The flight was quite the "joyride"

Stuart Macgill was in the DJ lounge last Tuesday. Quite a nice chap to bad he was always Warnies understudy

Sent from my GT-I9100 using AustFreqFly

Saw Alexander Downer getting out of a taxi and CBR on Friday. Didn't recognise him at first as he's become a bit greyer over the years.

Did you get his tip on which wine was the best to have?

OMG That definitely tops all the other celebs in this thread. That is so exciting!

Did you talk to them and ask "How do you do?"

During turbulence did you hold on tight? (you know turbulance can be a little bit dangerous)

No....I was too busy "spending my time" trying to maintain "the look" as I was a little dishevelled from a night of bevvys with old work colleagues in Melb Sunday night. ;)

Disheveled from a night of bevvys - sounds like it must have been love. I would have loved to see Roxette but my schedule didn't allow. Oh well, I guess I will just have to dream on.

Brisbane J lounge a fair amount of Australian Cricket team.

From where I am sitting I can see about 6 or 8

I once got mistaken for someone famous in a lounge.:D

This gives me a chance at name dropping. In the 60s I was in Dunedin for a medical students conference.;)
I was staying with a fellow who was the All Blacks understudy for hooker. So it was inevitable that late into the night I found myself in a pub drinking with several All Blacks.I was propping up the bar alongside Ian Kirkpatrick. This gorgeous blonde walks in and makes a beeline for us.Of course I thought Ian was her target. But no,she walks straight up to me and says "Hello Angel Eyes".You could have knocked me over with a feather!
Unfortunately a film of the time was The Good,The Bad and The Ugly.Angel Eyes was the Ugly.:(
