Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

One of the fellows I met and nearly shook hands with and was on the news tonight was Dimitri Medvedev who in 2010 was the Russian President.
On the Monday it was grey, overcast, cold and windy but the rain kept away most of the day.It was back to the Kremlin and we did the Ivan the Great Bell Tower tour-500R.This gets you into all the other museums in Cathedral Square. There were only 9 on the tour,English audio guide,137 steps up but you do it in 3 parts so even we had no problems.Great views at the top made it very worthwhile-i would thoroughly reccomend this tour.
After going through all the museums we walked the Secret Gardens-the cavalry were going through their paces for the Tattoo and the bands once more struck up with the 1812 Overture. We walked out the South entrance.Mrsdrron had to use the conveniences.i was standing around outside the Presidential offices surrounded by a Russian sporting team.a big black merc draws up.A security fellow and driver jump out with their hands inside their coats, then a smaller fellow jumps out and shakes hands with a few of the team.was about to shake my hand but obviously realised i was not part of the team and jumped back in the Merc.it was not until the next day when his picture was in the Moscow News i realised it was Mr Medvedev the Russian President.Ah my brush with fame.

Chef Curtis Stone in SYD F lounge now🍤🥩👨‍🍳
I sat next to him on a V Australia flight to LAX in about 2009 or 2010. Not being up on popular culture or watching much TV I had no idea who he was. We chatted about restaurants, food in both countries, a few other things, including at the bar between the two J cabins (I think that’s where it was?). Nice enough guy that I broke my usual rule of only talking to other passengers after touchdown. SBD

Boarding QF just now from MEL to SYD Andy Allen from M@sterchef and a bunch of unrecognisable to me channel 7 sportsball commentators probably all AFL based on giddy fan boys asking for photos whilst they waited in priority boarding queue in their channel 7 branded jackets. All on way ro Logies is my guess.

Discovered my neighbour aboard last night’s QF157 was Sir Peter Gluckman, a New Zealand scientist.

From Wikipedia -:

Originally trained as a paediatrician, he served as the inaugural Chief Science Advisor to the New Zealand Prime Minister from 2009 to 2018. He is a founding member and was inaugural chair of the International Network for Government Science Advice, and is president of the International Science Council.

Only reason I know is because he was working on a presentation and I happened to look over just as he added his name as the presenter. Anytime someone puts “Sir” in front of their name, you take the time to look up what earnt them a knighthood!

I said g’day to a couple of the lads from the Wallabies while in a short queue for breakfast at the Pullman Brisbane Airport yesterday morning. I then saw the team sitting in groups about the BNE QP a couple of hours later as I wandered past after leaving the BNE Dom J lounge.

They would have been on their way to team camp up north ahead of taking on Argentina on Saturday in TSV as a part of The Rugby Championship. Looking forward to that one!

Cheers,
Matt.
