Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

I've bumped into the best ever basketball player a few times, including at a live performance of American blues/roots musician Taj Mahal at Tilleys a few years ago and also down the south coast.
LJ is one seriously tall lady!

Federal parliamentarians are no longer permitted to fly in F on the public dime, even when offered a complimentary upgrade.

Not just parliamentarians, also public servants.

The official policy is to politely decline the upgrade when an airline op-ups a public servant from J to F. The fear of taxpayer backlash is too great. Of course, nobody is going to know who you are unless they see the Green or Red Aussie passport.

Doesnt he have his own plane? Im sure Ive seen a recent photo of him boarding it.

The RAAF has some Boeing 737s (used to be 707s) for VIP use - Queen, royals, GG, PM, other VIPs - but in practice it's mostly the PM. If the GG goes on a big official state visit, then he'll use the VIP. But if it's something smaller, the Cosgroves fly commercially I think.

VIP bookings are coordinated by a dedicated staffer in the Defence Minister's office. "The VIP" ("Are you on the VIP on Sunday?") as it's known is often used for politicians and staff at the start and end of a sitting week. When Senator David Johnston was MINDEF, as a WA senator, the VIP would often fly CBR-PER-CBR. The service onboard is impeccable with hard and soft products nothing to complain about.

Contrary to what some might expect, deductions are made parliamentarians' and staffers' travel allowances.

Like AlieninPerth, bumped into the entire Brisbane Lions AFL team this morning at the VP (Virgin Pub). They were all quite polite and well behaved, and we ended up being surrounded by them as my son (who plays junior AFL) wanted to talk to them as they left to board the flight to MEL - playing St Kilda this weekend.

One of the finest women's basketball player. Three times MVP in the WNBA (USA) league. Unfortunately injuries cut short her career.

Friends of mine know a Vicki Wilson, I've met a Vicky Wilson, and my baby cousin is a sometime firebird, most of the time something that sounds like a razor. The other baby cousin is the latter, too. ;)

I might have seen some Firebirds at BNE dom security ladt Fri, but am not sure. Definitely a sports team of some kind.

I think I saw drron at the luggage carousel at MCY tonight when I was grabbing our bags after coming in on QF1578. If it was you drron I would have said hello, but I was juggling the bags and greeting the relative who picked us up and didn't get the chance. Next time.
