Was Richie wearing a cream jacket or was it beige?

What about Halfeez Handmissing, Asaid Giveasheet & Asif Heedgiveasheet? :p

Not sure if it counts as famous or not, but I think I (and many others) are looking at Patty Hurst in LAX at the moment.

By the way, the braised beef ribs are FANTASTIC!!!!! ( and no, I have NOT been away from home for too long)

After a long flight from Munich to Seattle on LH J class, I went through US customs with Lauren Jackson who was returning to Seattle after playing for Australia in the 2004 Athens Olympics which I was watching on TV just a few days before the flight. We (Australia) lost to the US in the gold medal play off.

She was friendly and we chatted for a few minutes in the queue waiting for our US customs grilling. We're both Australian, she's 6'5" and I'm 6'2".

The minister for Homophobia/Xenophobia from North QLD who looks more like Yosemite Sam than a politician, eventually boarding his flight late as usual this time causing a 22 minute delay after leaving BNE Airport in between flights. This guy must've been born running late.

Even when he originates in BNE he seems to take great delight in the cat and mouse chase that follows by leaving the lounge(s) well before boarding then going AWOL usually in the opposite direction of his boarding gate so he's always a fail to board pax. Of course he never answers his mobile phone either.

Why bother with the pretence of being a 'man of the people' by travelling in whY when entitled to J if you're going to consistently board late in true DYKWIA style. Just go the 'whole hog' & travel in J & be done with it.

As in Patty Hearst the heiress/bank robber?

Come on....don't leave us hanging here! Or rather, no need to be so diplomatic (pun intended)...

Punctual is not my middle name by a country mile, but this is ridiculous. How was he not auto-offloaded so the flight could leave on time? I don't think it takes 22 minutes to find a chuck off a bag, if he even had one. And waiting for him just because it was... him? Ridiculous, especially if at T-0 there was no sign of him on page. (I suppose some sod called him and he said he'll be there as soon as possible....   )

It really surprises me sometimes how these people travel. I remember going to and from Canberra and often you'd have a troupe of around five or so in business attire scramble onto the aircraft with seconds to spare before T-0. They're also the ones that stop me from getting anything further than row 5 on most Dash 8 flights...

I saw him in Cairns when I was there a few weeks ago. Was going to go up and say "Hello. How's it hanging". Alas, he was with his wife(?) and other people being a show pony, so I didn't. He even has his own Android App now (called Soundboard). There are also other versions for other celebs.

BTW - my fact for the day... There is a Nova FM presenter/dj who is absolutely scared of flying. Any guesses who?

Trouble is whenever the sods attempt to call him he's either glued to his mobile already on the phone or doesn't pick it up at all so he can't be reached.

There is no such thing as an 'auto-offload' facility so when a person has checked in for a flight & noshows at the boarding gate staff have to physically do the offload which is a fairly simple process but it's usually done once the bag has been located. I don't think an auto offload facility would be a good idea as you wouldn't want somebody offloaded in their bag was still onboard - you need to have people in control of that function.

Occasionally the pax is actually onboard but their boarding pass hasn't scanned so you wouldn't want the system to 'auto offload' a pax in error when they were actually on board the aircraft.

It may not take 22 minutes to actually 'chuck off' a bag but sometimes baggage handlers have loaded the bags, locked up the hold & moved on to the next aircraft to unload so it may take a little while for them to finish the other flight before going back to the plane that needs the bag found.

Perhaps I was too flippant with the remark, 'auto-offload'.

It just appeared to me that 22 minutes expended in order to check someone is on board or not (i.e. error in scanning BP), locate a bag if it is checked onto the aircraft and then make the decision to off-load (only to be interrupted by the appearance of said passenger) was an inordinate amount of time.

When I said 'auto-offload', I suppose it was just me thinking, "Why did it take so long before the staff actually thought to offload this passenger?" I suppose the passenger "won" his battle for the day by beating the unspecified clock and boarding just in time to interrupt the process (just like beating the imaginary time the bus is supposed to arrive because you know it always comes late, but you never know how late it will arrive).

Who knows, maybe executive orders. It wouldn't be a bad idea next time he travels to isolate his bag or load it last so when the said muppet pulls this stunt again the bag can be found in no time & the plane can go minus a DYKWIA.

I sat behind Helen Clark, then PM of NZ, on an Air NZ flight from Auckland to Wellington - all amazingly low-key, an all-economy flight, she was in 1F and I was in 2F, she boarded a bit late with a minder/assistant of sorts, but that was about all!
