Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

ha .. true .. but the thing I don't recognize the famous people here in AU anyway .. unless someone points it out to me ... so I might have served quite a few "famous" people so far, but I just didn't know that. I was told that there was a very famous AU cricketer that was in the store a few weeks back and apparently, I spoke 10 mins to him about wines & gin and sold him 2 bottles .. I didn't know he was famous (lol)
There was a chap who visited work last year who looked familiar but I couldn’t place him. I only placed him when I read the news later saying movie star Zac Efron had been doing the rounds in Tassie.

Ok. Next Canberra dinner we'll organise a presentation or set of cards, and take you through who you might see at the airport, in terms of who is, and isn't famous :)

Mr. Dutton on QF1519 now. Didn’t realise why there were a lot of AFP and what looked like plain clothes, headphones wearing, serious looking folks near the gate at boarding. When boarding began, I suddenly noticed Mr. Dutton right behind me in the boarding queue.

Btw, QF PB boarding fail on this flight. Single file, but two boarding staff.

Just stumbled across this thread and here's a few to add to the mix from over the years that I can remember off the top of my head:

- Flying VA HBA-MEL early last year, Shane "Kenny" Jacobson was up front in J.
- In January, we sat in front of former F1 driver Mark Webber also in VA J (MEL-MCY). Overheard one of the crew chatting to him and telling him the captain was very excited to have him on board.
- Not on a flight but earlier this year in the UK we caught a train from Liverpool to Newcastle with an MP called Angela Rayner sitting in the row in front of us. She's deputy leader of the opposition over there, so reasonably senior, but was travelling alone with no entourage or security.

And this weekend just gone my wife was checking in at VA Dom in SYD behind Todd Sampson. Some problem with his ticket apparently and he was sent away to go and sort it out over the phone...

I'm cruising with alot of people who think they are famous but the only 1 I knew from my political past was a former Speaker of the NSW Lower House John Murray. Although from the ALP I had met him in the 80s and a thoroughly nice fellow.

Actually the American sitting the other side of him recognised him. He saw him put on the Green jacket in 1996 where in the last round he started 6 shots behind Greg Norman.
An interesting quote in his wikipedia quoting the careers of Norman and Faldo-
"Norman has played and won more events: 87–43; however, Faldo has won more U.S. and European tour titles: 36–34. Norman has won more money; Faldo has won more majors: 6–2. Norman has won more friends, Faldo more admirers; Norman had more women, Faldo had more fast cars."

And one more thing they had in common I sat next to Greg Norman at dinner in a Coolum restaurant.
