Family emergency, urgent flight

Hi, everyone. Just go the news that my grandfather might be endstage of his cancer.

since he is asking for me, i am flying from adelaide to shanghai (china) or Nanjing this week.

since this is such a short notice, travel agency told me that Malaysia and Singapore airlines are sold out. The only option is Qantas.

Since qantas arrives in shanghai on the same day which is a plus for me, i might choose qantas for it.

now since I am Australia citizen, I need a VISA to go to China. I send my application on Monday, and used the same day process type, therefore I hope I can receive my passport with visa on Thursday or Friday.

The flight I am looking at is:

QF740 Adelaide->sydney Sat 19/12/09
QF129 Sydney -> shanghai 19/12

back flight is :
QF130 shanghai ->sydney 27/12
QF759 sydney -> adelaide

Now the travel agency said they going to hold the ticket for me, so no payment at the moment. However I am a bit worried that I might going to lose that ticket.

Now can anyone check the seats availibility for the selected flights for me please? Should I pay for the ticket then hope the visa will arrive in time?

I'd strongly suggest you go and do your visa in person, that way you know you have it. If it means a day trip to Melbourne/Sydney it could be well worth the trip as you'll save a couple of days where it isn't in the post.

But how do i find out my fair class? those are the red-e deal ones.

The cheap (red-e-deal) classes are usually Q, N, O, E from memory,

That said you'd need to speak with your TA to find out what class they have your tickets earmarked for, for example if they have selected Q and Q runs out, they may move your booking into O, problem is that O may have a higher cost associated with it. Both red-e-deals, but different prices for the classes.
