I might have to visit the US monthly for shopping if that prediction came true!!:mrgreen:

Wow, that guy is VERY bullish!

If the $AUD vs $US reached $1.70, Australia would have huge issues. But I'd be happy to be your seatmate on my monthly U.S shopping trips!

I would be happy if the AUD stayed at USD1.07 for the next few years....

I have just returned from the US and the shopping is awesome.... Particularly with the strong AUS dollar. Their clothing is about 1/2 the price we pay in AUS and that's before its discounted at the outlet malls. We found an excellent premium brands outlet in Atlanta..... I bought so much that I had to buy a second suitcase. Rather than paying $120 in Oz for a Tommy Hilfiger shirt, the standard US price is $60 and I purchased them for $30 at the outle shop.....
IPad 2 with wifi &3g 32g from apple is about $120 cheaper in the USA..... (word of warning though, most apple stores sell out of iPad 2 within 1hour of opening each day, so be there early)

I bought a plain blue polo shirt at an outlet store and the cashier said "that will be 45cents sir", what the? I have never paid 45cents for a brand new top.... They were 90% off on sale....

Doesnt take long to make the cost of your airfare back.... I am planning a trip back with the Mrs to buy clothes for her & 3 kids....

Go Aussie battler dollar......yes 0.6666 is one pip off $1.50 to the pound!

I dealt at .6655 for July5th so if it runs to .70 or more please feel sorry for me with my stash of pounds.

I'm currently in KL. When I was here a year ago, AUD 1 = RM 2.7595; today it is RM 3.2404, an increase of 17.4%:p:lol:. I had real fun shopping today, something I normally detest....

? parity with EUR and ?? GBP

With the AUD today at USD1.1036, EUR 0.7633 and GBP 0.6745, and some plaundits tipping the AUD to reach USD1.50, do you think the little Aussie battler could hit parity with GBP and more likely the EUR?

Well when Europe finally realises they cant save the economies of Greece,Ireland and probably Spain I reckon it will be a certainty.Though they may very well take a few years to realise this!

I find it hard to believe, and also think the Govt wouldn't be too happy with that... $US1.20 maybe, $1.50? Hmmm, would love it, but can't see it happening. Parity with the euro may be possible, but not sure about the pound.
But I'm only guessing ... so don't trust my advice!

Wayne Swan has his latest budget in tatters already so if the Australian dollar pushes up his taxpayer base starts to drop alarmingly. He won't be getting income tax from many exporters this year!In the mean time Australians can all binge overseas as a lot of businesses realize they need to trim employment and restructure to remain viable. If the Aussie dollar continues upwards and it probably will there are some nasty side effects to a currency surge. The coming GST bust is one of the nasties that will affect many State Governments.

Well the AUD is now off 6 cents. Anyone out there miss it?
Better still if you have bought half you should be fine.

That's an amazing drop (6C) in a week!....now to go and see what's happened to my shares:evil::shock:

There are some things I choose not to look at :)

As an importer and paying suppliers in USD I have to look, but hey had it so good for so long, have to expect movements, but 5 cents drop in one week is huge, my thinking is as OZ is so financially strong it will flutter just below parity and up to AUD1.08 to $1USD for some time to come, but like shares for most of us simply guess work.

That's good advice!! What I saw would make most grown men cry!!:evil::evil::evil:. I won't look at my super fund for a few months I think...

I knew opening this thread would get me depressed. :( The AUD today is buying USD1.0449 which is still not too bad.

Have you still go super? I had a little super a few years ago but after 15%-20% losses 2 years in a row there is not much left. Suaperannuation is a very poor investment today. I would rather invest the money on the property than let someone mismanage my super.
