so trying to judge the best time!

Another "Dubai scare" could send the markets tumbling for more than 24 hours I think...

Interest rates probably rising today, but the markets will probably take that into account already.

If anything holding off will be best, but the Dubai scare was out of nowhere and who knows what else may pop out at any time.

The peak was £0.57 and it's currently £0.55

So if you were to move $10,000 it's only $200 in it..

I need to move some more money to the USA before Xmas but will be waiting about 2 weeks, I think she can hit 0.93 in about two weeks.

At the end of the day it all depends how much you are moving really. I try to be nice to people who are fretting over converting $500 Aussie into US Dollars and the $10 difference if they had of converted about a week or so ago.... This is of course just before they go off and spend $4 on a cup of coffee from the cafe... :shock:

It's actually closer to $400 I think.
$A10K = 5700 pounds.
$A10K = 5500 pounds.

Which is actually a reasonable chunk of coin... But agree about your comments about 1c difference and $500 conversions.

I plan to wait until the AUD hits +93c as I have 7 or so YUP fares to book for next year. It really is a yo yo at the moment, and everything is a gamble so if it go up..good, if it goes down then stiff. I'm only hedging my bets on a couple of dollars in any event, but there was talk in the finance sectors several weeks ago of the AUD reaching USD. (I don't think so). I sent AUD$5K to the US when it was above this several weeks ago and kicking myself for not booking the flights then.

We have an Artic cruise to pay for next year.I chose to be billed in US dollars(Aussie was at 80c then).So I have an effective 10% discount on the cruise and i am beginning to think it may be just as well to pay now rather than March.

It will probably break 0.92 today as its already at 0.918.

As for parity (1 Aussie = $1 USD) that will probably still happen but just not this year.

Yep this time last year the Aussie was falling like nothing else. Most of my holiday was paid at 0.65 when I was in the USA :evil: The way I look at it now I am saving 40% or something!

The dollar seems to have staged a recovery since I last look (two days ago)

1AUD = 0.92232 US

but wait

1AUD = 0.576 GBP !!!!

I need to pay for some travel expenses in Peru in US$...it is quite a fair amount so can someone with a crystal ball please tell me when I should be making the payment?:?::idea:

I reckon as soon as you can ensure the transaction will go through at 0.90. In my opinion, talk of parity is over the top.

kpc,

As soon as you are able.

You have a 100% chance that the rates will get better or worse and most crystal balls seem to be fogged up at the moment so any comments are just opinions.

Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge Hotel - Luxury Hotel in Machu Picchu

It's a been a dream of mine for a long time to visit MP...probably will only go once in my life! I know it is only a 3.5 -4 star hotel (I've read all the reviews on Trip Advisor, travel books and on the web) but it's all about location, I guess :shock:. As the hotel price just dropped by USD110 overnight, and with the AUD being strong, and it will be my birthday etc, I decided why not?

My hotels on either side of this night are USD90 and USD48 per night respectively!!:shock::mrgreen::p
