In business lounges in BKK or LON, I frequently find a well-stocked array of top-tier newsmagazines; e.g. The Economist, National Geographic, Forbes, Fortune, Time, Newsweek etc.
Emirates even distributes many of these on its planes regularly.

In the Qantas F lounge in SYD, however, one only finds low-value or niche/specialist magazines that are full of advertorials and would likely be distributed free anyway, e.g. Golfers Digest, Miners Investment Journal, Australian Lifestyle etc.

Does anyone know the reason why?

I agree and reckon I've actually found better magazines in the domestic J lounge. I quite enjoy New Statesman when I can find it.

I always bring home a copy of "5 star holidays with kids" magazine for the wife.

All those happy young families dressed in white linen being waitered on.. so different from our holidays.

Thanks for these comments.

While it's our intention to have "something for everyone", I've passed your feedback on to both the Domestic and International lounge teams. :)

Thanks for passing on the comments Red Roo :)
Perhaps you/they may be interested in running a quick survey here or elsewhere to see which magazines the frequent flyers are most interested in finding at the lounges - as one input to consider.

I am reasonably sure that at one time the FCL had some British newspapers - the Mail I think was one. I would like to see that return.

I'm quite displeased that I cannot ever find a copy of MAD magazine in any lounge. Anywhere.
