I will be arriving into SYD INT at 7:20 one morning and will need to connect to a DOM flight to BNE for work.
Because of different fare bases and payment arrangements the flights CANNOT be on the same booking or PNR.
Any thoughts on whether connecting to QF or VA would be quicker and how much time I should allow for each?

I'm not sure about the morning arrivals but those EY flights departing AUH at night are always late. The first time I was travelling to MEL and because the domestic terminal is adjacent just made it in time for the last connecting flight to BNE. I was not so lucky the second time connecting in SYD after a 2 hour delay out of AUH. So I would suggest you allow at least 3 hours and then use fly ahead on VA?

QF would likely be faster as a QF domestic flight gives access to the "seamless" transfer.

VA use the T-Bus which goes landside.
