EY Apartments vs. LH First Class

boomy I know OT for this thread but how do you rate EY Apt to SQ R?

My limited SQ experience stops at F. Unless R is much better than I'll take the apartments any day.
There is one thing where R may have an edge - the double bed. That plus a bottle or two of Krug can be an interesting combination ;)
We're booked for that experience in Sep :)

OK cool - you will be much better placed to answer then - and to answer your query YES R is big step up from F - don't believe differing views from the naysayers until you have tried - if I am wrong I'll turn in my keyboard.

Infinity reckons EY F Apartments just shades Sq suites esp. if you are travelling solo....if travelling as a couple, SQ suites double bed can't be beat according to him. Having just recently flown EY F apartments myself, I will have to wait til early July to try out the SQ suites to report personally:). Having said that, the service on EY F was a bit hit and miss, brilliant on my outbound to Auh but average (in a good way) on the return from Auh. Having flown SQ F (not suites) twice many years ago, it is hard to believe that the SQ F service can be anything short of brilliant :)

Speaking of SQ R, I'd be very interested in TR comparing SQ A380 suites to OZ A380 suites.

If no one is going to do that anytime soon I'll may have to take one for the team :p

Did both beginning of this year :D.

OZ's ICN F lounge is quite nice and VERY quiet, they have few flights with F so it isn't busy at all. They also have extremely nice bathrooms. Seat was nice onboard, I flew ICN-LAX. Food was very good, caviar course Calvisius Oscietra. I slept reasonably well from what I recall. Service was very good.

SQ R, I flew SIN-AKL. I haven't flown SQ F, but have flown SQ J on the former EWR-SIN flight. Ultra-comfortable seat and bed. Private Room is, well, private, but a little underwhelming.

Really can't go wrong with either one.

OZ's suites have the largest TVs in the sky at 35 inches! (despite SQ's marketing that they have the biggest TVs at 23 inches or whatever).

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience Boomy!
I enjoyed your Japan TR and look forward to your future threads.
I dont get to travel much and try to maximise my experience and have booked a paid AA Syd-LAX in F to at least get the Flounge experience.
I will now have to try to get the Jal Flounge after your reports but this may take some tiime.

First world problem. What do our fellow AFF think - EY F A380 all the way from MEL - JFK or break this up between EY and EK. Have flown EK F a few times and enjoyed every moment of it.

The first option is to fly EY F A380 MEL - AUH, 2 nights layover, EK F A380 DXB - JFK. This will satisfy my hunger in experiencing the Apartment and DXB F Lounge.
The second option is to fly EK F A380 MEL-SIN-DXB, 2 nights layover followed by EY F A380 AUH - JFK. This will allow me to sample QF F lounge and AUH J/F lounge. Presumably SYD F is better than MEL F and would imagine the F AUH lounge would be open by then (Nov-16) [one can only hope given then push back it has].
The third option is to fly EY F A380 all the way from MEL - JFK.

Have made the booking to option 1 but the concern I have is that EY may not operate the A380 out of MEL (worst case scenario) and have more faith that they will continue to operate AUH - JFK given the traffic and newly opened EY lounge in JFK.

What do you fellow AFF think? Have heard a lot on the EY Apartment but not so much of DXB F lounge, AUH lounge and QF F MEL lounge. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I thought EK MEL-SIN-DXB was on 777 only? Also, I think MEL-AUH on EY is on only 777?

Thanks for the kind words lakeman.

I think we need someone on AFF to do an updated TR SYD-LAX AA F. Didn't see any TRs here since that route was re-introduced.

The second option looks good to me.
