Express Path outbound passes - does airline matter?

I've got an outbound Express Path card from an EK flight a few months ago which I didn't use in SYD. I've got an upcoming QF flight from MEL where it might be useful if the airport happens to be busy.

I've never used Express Path before - do they care about whether the airline issuing your Express Path pass is the same as the one you're flying?

I have been pinged once but most times no issue. Worst thing that can happen is they say no.

Almost certainly OK, you’d have to be very unlucky to be pinged. They usually have better things to do than cross-reference your express path issuer with your carrier.

Agreed that if there are no crowds then don't (potentially) waste the cards.

I haven't counted mine for a while so I have no idea how many. I have several piles each with a bunch in them.

I don't travel internationally nearly as much as most of this forum, 2018 was a record for me as I left Australia 3 times in a year... so I've got to use it at some point just to feel special

On departing, I have had no issue using another airline's departure express card but I try and keep the BP separate so not to make it too obvious

I went through MEL international last week and there isn't an express queue for the immigration machines... golly it was a bit of a zoo too!
You could use the pass at the security check queue but in all honesty there wasn't any benefit as there were security check stations everywhere with minimal waits.

I used it! Saved me a few minutes at security.

...and also as I was fumbling around for my boarding pass, they forgot to actually make me hand in my card, so it's still in my wallet for next time...

With MEL outbound the main benefit these days is for the security queue. Also, if you are unable to use the automated machines.

Security check outbound MEL has been a disgrace like forever - whilst an Express Path has technically always existed after entering ZERO control over the lines - more times than not the line at Express check longer than all others and staff there totally useless and clueless.

The one place that Express Card can be useful is on arr into MEL if arr halls is very busy then you can jump the queue via the designated Express entry points.

Anyways if anybody wants Express Dep / Arr cards pm me and i'll send you what you want til supply exhausted.

Australia might be OK, but places like BKK the express pass has changed twice in the past 12 months. I often see if there is no one in the normal queue and save it for next time and i had about 8 of the old brown ones that are useless now. I watched two English guys get turned away the other day presenting the old passes.
