I have just noticed a soon to expire voucher in my QFF bookings, any suggestions as to how I may extend the deadline. Can it be exchanged for goods in kind ? As MBH and I have a 60 day trip coming up immediately I am anxious not to give it back.

As far as I am aware the voucher cannot be extended especially if this is from a cancelled flight. The validity if 12 months from the original flight.

I am not sure if you can use these type of vouchers at QF Travel for accommodation or other services but do take note that QF Travel will charge you a booking fee if the voucher is not a complimentary voucher received from Qantas as compensation for service disruptions or a good will gesture.

I had a Qantas voucher worth $100 a while back, they gave it to me after repeated late and cancelled flights. Trouble was I could not use it online and when I called they said I could use it at any Qantas Shop or sales desk.

Trouble was I live in Country NSW so I did not have access to these other than half way trough a trip so I never used it in the end.

.

A cancelled flight voucher is current only for 12 months from the date of ticketing, not the date of the original flight.

That is a shame as you can call Qantas Shop to make a booking and then post the voucher in to them.

Yes you are quite right.

Not sure if this is a recent change but I seem to recall that the new flight had to be 12 months from original flight.

You might find that provided you actually redeem the voucher before the expiry date, you can use it towards a booking up to (almost) 1 year in advance.

Be aware though, that if you then have to cancel or change that flight, in most cases the value of the voucher will vanish.

Having said that - an opportunity for compliments to Qantas Customer Care. We recently had to cancel a flight (due child's illness) which through a complicated set of circumstances had been paid for mostly by a credit voucher from a previously cancelled flight. The original booking was about 16 months ago. Customer Care were most helpful in reissuing a new voucher for the full value of the cancelled fare, with validity through till 12 months after the second booking was made. They didn't have to do this - maybe a benefit of being a WP. We might even get to use it!!!
